Internet slams 'slow cooker toast' recipe - Is it really worth the effort?

When it comes to cooking, time is often of the essence. Whether you're whipping up a quick meal for yourself or preparing a feast for loved ones, every minute counts. Thankfully, there are a number of kitchen gadgets that can help you save time in the kitchen.

One of the most popular kitchen gadgets is the slow cooker and for a good reason — it's easy to use.

The machine allows its users to keep themselves busy with other chores and activities while it cooks — all they need to do is place all the ingredients inside and the machine will do its magic to prepare the meal. The gadget 'slow cooks' the food, meaning it takes a long time before its ready to be served.

That's why it is not surprising that one man has the internet confused after he revealed his recipe for a perfect slice of toast over the course of two hours using the appliance.

You read that right, folks! Apparently, home cook Methew Wells, who took to Facebook to share his ‘tip,’ uses a slow cooker to make this easy breakfast favourite...you know, a meal you can easily prepare in a matter of minutes.

‘My slow-cooked toast recipe,’ he wrote on the Slow Cooker Recipe & Tips Facebook group along with photos of the breakfast meal, which featured two slices of flawlessly cooked toast slathered in butter.

‘One and half hours on warm and 30 minutes on low for perfect toast and butter at the end.’

The post has captured the attention of thousands of users, amassing more than 8,000 likes and comments from people who were confused about the man's decision to opt for a time-consuming method to prepare such basic food.

One user questioned: 'I am confused. Why don’t you just use a toaster that is done in two minutes?'

‘Hate to break this to you, but they invented a device to do this in two minutes called a toaster,' another user sarcastically said.

A third advised: 'Why? Save electricity and put it in the toaster.'

'You could’ve made a whole meal with that slow cooker love,' said another.

'But hey, worth an experience. Now we all know we can toast with a slow cooker!'

Others poked fun at the recipe, writing sarcastic jokes about it.

One user joked: 'I used to do this for breakfast before work every day until I got fired for being constantly late.'

'Also if you need water, place 10 ice cubes in the slow cooker for three hours, then wait two hours to cool and you have a perfect drink. Add ice cubes to taste,' another sarcastically suggested.

A third chimed in: ‘Could you post the recipe, please! I’ve always wanted to try toast.'

Nevertheless, we just wanted to say that we do not support this suggestion. Except for the fact that it will take longer for you to enjoy a simple breakfast, the slow cooker can also consume a lot of energy, which may hike up your electricity bills in the long run.

Only a male could think of that one.

Maybe he didn’t have a toaster so was making use of what he had! Also a slow cooker on for 8 hours low uses less power than an oven on for 20 mins! Hence why they’ve become so popular

Only a man could come up with this ideea! As far as I am concerned it is a long way from perfect. It's not browned around the edges.

All I can say is that he has too much time on his hands...what a darn stupid idea! The slow cooker does not use a lot of electricity at all so maybe that is the reason he does this or he is downright mean.

Guess he would have this set on a Timer to come on & do all this in time for breakfast at whatever time he gets up.
Bit like reinventing the wheel isn't it?
