How much would you pay for a 'high-quality' smoothie? This new Brisbane bar's prices are sparking outrage!

In the heart of Brisbane, a new smoothie bar is stirring up more than just fruit blends. Bubbleboy, the latest addition to Newstead's food scene, is causing quite the divide with its premium-priced beverages that promise an 'epic' taste and an 'aesthetic' experience. But the question on everyone's lips isn't just about the taste—it's whether the cost of these high-quality drinks is justified or just plain exorbitant.

The concept of paying for quality isn't new, especially when it comes to food and beverages. We've seen the rise of artisanal coffee shops, gourmet burger joints, and now, smoothie bars like Bubbleboy that offer a menu of drinks with wellness add-ons such as collagen powder, lime caviar, and sea moss. Each add-on comes with a $2 price tag, quickly escalating the base price of $15.50 to a sum that has left some customers with a bitter aftertaste.

Social media has been abuzz with reactions to Bubbleboy's offerings. While some patrons rave about the taste and vibe of the drinks, others are taken aback by the 'insane' prices. Comments on a viral TikTok video showcase the divide, with one user stating, 'For $16, I will pass,' and another exclaiming, '$48 for three smoothies is crazy.' In a time when Australians are already paying 54 per cent more than the world average for food, according to World Bank data, the cost of indulging in a Bubbleboy smoothie is a luxury that many are finding hard to swallow.

Bubbleboy, however, stands by its pricing, attributing the cost to the use of high-quality, organic ingredients and a meticulous crafting process. The spokesperson for the smoothie bar emphasizes the care that goes into each drink, from the certified organic fruits to the nutrient-dense superfoods. They also highlight their cold-pressed technique, which they claim 'guarantees maximum nutrient retention and freshness,' setting their products apart from other juices on the market.

The debate over Bubbleboy's prices isn't just about the cost of a smoothie; it's a reflection of the broader conversation on the value of food and the willingness to pay for quality and experience. Some customers are willing to pay a premium for what they perceive as a superior product, while others are more cautious, especially given the current economic climate.

Beyond the price, there's also the issue of service. Some customers have reported wait times of up to 40 minutes for their orders, a delay that can dampen even the most Instagram-worthy drink experience. Bubbleboy has acknowledged this feedback and stated that they have made improvements to reduce wait times.

As the debate continues, it's clear that Bubbleboy has made a splash in Brisbane's culinary waters. Whether it's the taste of their smoothies, the allure of their aesthetic, or the shock of their prices, this new smoothie bar has certainly given the locals something to talk about.

There's nothing obscenely wealthy people love more than the opportunity to demonstrate their wealth.

It's so enticing to them that they will smile smugly while handing over incredible amounts of money to purchase absolutely anything, so long as they know ordinary people never touch the items they are buying.

In this case it sounds like Bubbleboy is the creating absolute rubbish that probably tastes like toxic waste that any sane person would pay someone else to dispose of, and making a bundle while enjoying watching morons pretend to enjoy consuming it.

I love it

Sounds like a load of bs to me, but there's a mug on every corner ready to waste their money just because someone tells them how special it is.
Can't see them staying in business too long with those sort of prices.
I don't care how much money you've got, you'd have to be a complete idiot to pay those prices.

The price is ridiculous…. & so are the people who purchase the smoothies.
They have more money than sense.
Australia doesn’t need this type of Smoothie stand to try to con the people into buying these drinks…. especially when the cost of living is already hurting.
