House on Stilts

Check out these towering homes in Red Hill, Brisbane, from around 1915! Built to handle the suburb’s steep terrain, they kept street access level while offering ventilation and flood protection. Many of these beauties are still standing today!

Under the houses in summer you got a cool breeze flowing thru. So in the 50's and 60's people started using under the house for cooling down, and entertaining

Check out the river city in Bandar Seri Begawan, in Brunei Darusalam. A unique population live on stilted houses in the middle of the river. There are homes, shops, schools and medical centres. Some people rarely cross to the mainland.

I most certainly did survive many floods, whilst up the road and looking around us there were low set houses under water.
People moved up from down south as did builders and developers and all they would build were lowest.
If anyone wanted to build a home my grandfather always told them to build for the weather.
I've seen the council camping grounds reduced in size by developers removing the sandhills on the waterfront.
This has happened in every state and when a cyclone or major storm arrives and washes away the home owners seaside banks away, the local government foots the bill.
THIS IS MY OPINION AND DO RESEARCH.
