Homemade Potato Chips

My weakness is Potato Chips , now these ones are a little less guilt free and cheaper.
Also they are on hand and ready in a few minutes

Who would have thought you could make chips within minutes
in the microwave? They easy to make, and also healthier than shop brought ones.

Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cooking Time: 4-6 minutes

Ingredients:

1 medium-size potato , I peel mine but you don't need to.
1 tbsp olive oil
salt to taste
ice water

Method:

• Line a large microwave-safe plate with baking paper. • Slice the potatoes as thinly as you can, approx. 2–3 mm
• Place the slices in a bowl of ice water to remove the starch and then dry both
sides on a paper towel.
• Place the slices in a bowl and drizzle over the oil. Mix well to make sure the
potato slices are coated in the oil.
• Place in a single layer on the prepared plate and sprinkle with a little salt. • Microwave on high for 2–3 minutes, then turn the slices and microwave for
another 2–3 minutes or until crisp and lightly browned.
• Cool on a wire rack. They will get crispier once cooled.
Serves: 1

Note
Can be cooked in a preheated oven 180°C 160 fan-forced for 15 minutes but microwave works the same and is much quicker

Used to make these just before Christmas at and occasionally. at sea. In those days you were making them for the crew of thirty and some of them tended to be a more than a bit selfish, hence they weren't made very often. In writing this I just remembered what they were called in menu term, which I had trying to remember, for ages of course which is Saratoga Potatoes. If nobody else likes this comment, at least I remembered.

Are these "chips" or "crisps"?

I've got an awesome recipe for homemade potato chips that are not only healthier but also super easy to make. Here's what you'll need: a medium-sized potato (you can peel it if you prefer), a tablespoon of olive oil, some salt, and a bowl of ice water. Instructions: 1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). 2. Slice the potato into thin rounds, about 1/8 inch thick. You can peel the potato if you prefer, but it's not necessary. 3. Place the potato slices in a mixing bowl and drizzle them with olive oil. Toss gently to coat each slice evenly. 4. Spread the potato slices in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. 5. Sprinkle salt over the potato slices to taste. 6. Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until the chips are golden brown and crispy. Keep an eye on them as cooking times may vary depending on your oven. 7. Once done, remove the chips from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack. 8. Enjoy your homemade potato chips as a delicious and healthier snack! I hope you find this version simpler for your potato chip cravings. And don't forget to check out pico de gallo recipe.

That's exactly the recipe I posted except mine is in either oven or microwave

Interesting this was posted the same time as warnings about the side affects of salt in the diet. On another note - the air fryer does a great job with this recipe
