Home and Away stars horrified by an unexpected life-threatening incident on set – See what happened

Home and Away is one of Australia’s most-loved soap operas, having graced our screens for over 30 years – and we still can’t get enough of it!
Most of us over at the SDC love diving into the drama of Summer Bay and catching up with our favourite characters whenever we get the chance.
However, the show isn’t all sun, sand and surf, as some may think.
As filming for the soap was taking place on the palm-lined beaches of Palm Beach in Sydney, a wild weather event struck the area, leaving members of the cast and crew in a life-threatening situation.
A video of the incident was uploaded to the Home and Away Instagram page, showing a marquee being blown away by the wind, a table and chair set on their side, and damaged umbrellas.
The caption of the clip read: 'So a mini tornado hit Summer Bay today! Stay dry everyone.'
When the storm eventually cleared, and the skies turned grey and gloomy, the beach boys and girls of Summer Bay went out to survey the damage - led by Emily Weir, who plays Mackenzie Booth, wearing only a bikini, a blue robe, and sandals.
Weir, joined by her castmates Kyle Shilling (who plays Mali Hudson) and Luke Van Os (who plays Xander Delaney), then embarked on a real-life scavenger hunt in search of food that was still unscathed by the so-called 'mini-tornado'.
'Hey, do you guys know what time lunch is?' Os can be heard asking off-camera.
Weir responded: 'I dunno, I’m just waiting patiently.'
The post quickly grabbed the attention of Home and Away fans, who voiced their concern for the cast and crew members.
One concerned fan wrote: 'Omg, please stay safe and dry.'
'Hope everyone is ok. Stay safe lovelies,' another said.
A third chimed in: 'As long as no one got hurt, that’s the main thing.'
While no one was hurt, some joked that this situation could make a good cliffhanger for the next season.
One person said: 'Wonder if this is a sneak peek for what is to come on Home and Away next year?'
'We need something like this in an episode again,' another suggested.
A third joked: 'Next year’s cliffhanger. Who survived the storm?'
A few eagle-eyed viewers also noticed Weir braving the weather in just a bikini and sandals, with one person noting: 'She must have been freezing!'
While the thought of a real-life 'mini tornado' hitting the Summer Bay set is hard to process, let us all take comfort in the fact that the Home and Away crew were unharmed.
