And today, we’ve got excellent news for savvy shoppers in select areas – we've found a treasure trove of hidden discount stores that will help you save a small fortune on your groceries!

Krystal, a money-saving mum from the Gold Coast, has generously shared her discovery of a series of discount supermarkets stocked with ultra-cheap groceries. Knowing the secret to slashing grocery bills is something we all appreciate, especially in times of ever-increasing expenses.

One of the stores Krystal found offers a shopping trolley filled with items for just $25! And that's not all – she also discovered a store with items she claims are ‘cheaper than Kmart’.

‘There are a few of these stores popping up, and you could be walking past and not even know what's inside,’ she said in a video she shared online.

Krystal's discoveries have delighted thousands of fellow bargain hunters, who are now hoping to find similar hidden gems in their cities.

So, what are these hidden gems that can bring big savings to your shopping budget?

Lighthouse Care

Lighthouse Care is a not-for-profit organisation that aims to provide emergency relief to families in need while offering up to 70 per cent savings on groceries for customers.

They encourage the general public to shop at their stores, as the revenue they generate helps them provide more aid to those in need.

‘This place sells a trolley-load of groceries for only $25. The trolleys are pre-packed by the staff, so you don't really have a choice, but you can ask to have a look before you purchase,’ Krystal explained.

Each $25 pre-packed trolley includes bread, milk, and a few vegetables, along with items like crumpets, ice creams, cheese, and cake.

Lighthouse Care offers home deliveries and click-and-collect from two of their stores located in Loganholme and Hillcrest, south of Brisbane.

Choice The Discount Store

With 25 locations around Queensland and northern New South Wales, Choice The Discount Store is a versatile shopping destination with a wide range of incredibly low-priced items across various categories, including food, cleaning products, dog food, and toys for your beloved pets.

‘Those dog toys are cheaper than Kmart,’ Krystal explained.

Some of the budget offerings include $1 snack items, meal recipe bases, sauces, and canned goods.

Choice also stocks white goods like washers and dryers for less than $500 each, as well as craft supplies, hobby items, health and beauty products, homewares, and technology.

‘The amount of stuff that is a dollar is insane,’ she said.

Tribe of Judah

Tribe of Judah is a discount supermarket with a large variety of budget-friendly offerings such as fresh fruit, vegetables, bulk meat, dairy items, and frozen meals.

Krystal praised their 2kg diced bacon for only $8.99 and 12 Yoplait yoghurts for just $2! Their store is situated in Slacks Creek, Brisbane.

‘This place is well worth the visit,’ she claimed.

Discount Grocery Outlet

While their inventory may include slightly damaged items or ones close to or past their best-before dates, Discount Grocery Outlet provides shoppers with up to 50 per cent off the normal retail prices on groceries, cold and frozen items, and toiletries.

There are several store locations in Underwood in Brisbane, and Ashmore on the Gold Coast.

‘I would say this store is perfect for snacks and provides some everyday shopping, cheese galore, yoghurts and deli meats, heaps of spices and jar sauces to make meals,’ Krystal remarked.

Golden Circle Factory Outlet

This outlet store is great for picking up clearance stock from famous brands like Golden Circle, Sulkin, Decor, Kellogg's, and Old El Paso.

With locations in Capalaba and Morayfield, Golden Circle Factory Outlet offers everything from juices, canned goods, and cordial to hair ties and lunch boxes – all at significantly reduced prices.

All these stores are on the south east side of Brisbane. Not much good to anyone on the north side or anywhere else if you have to drive miles to get to them

I believe these stores were/are for the less fortunate among us. They are not ‘discount supermarkets’ and not meant for the supply of groceries to the general public.

Yes, they are on the Southside side of Brisbane and probably not easily accessible to those who need assistance on the Northside.

SDC members please let these organisations provide much needed assistance with living to those who REALLY are struggling.

Never anything in Victoria, where I am ......

They need to expand all over Australia

Now there's a thought - maybe coles, woollies, aldi - could all have a weekly run to donate to these stores instead of throwing things in dumpsters - not out of date items either! close to and so the people at the other end know it needs to be eaten in a few days, if this could be possible - that would be a blessing for the people who live close buy and are struggling, more than others.

Check if there is NQR (Not Quite Right) not too far from you. Great for lots of items including frozen food, dairy, personal care, even wine and beer. I haven't seen fresh fruit and vegetables there though.

Have know about this place for years but don't shop there as I much prefer Tribe Of Judah.
Lighthouse Care's $25 trollies always have items in it that I would never use and end up throwing out so for me that is a waste of my money. You don't have to purchase these trollies, you can just buy off the shelves.
I go to Tribe of Judah as I have found their items off the shelf are cheaper than Lighthouse Care.
There is also another organision in the same area called 'Loaves and Fishes' who do trollies as well.

Krystal seems to be hitting all the stores. Hopefully these stores especially the one with a whole trolley for $25 are kept for those who are struggling .
They state the following in their story above: “They encourage the general public to shop at their stores, as the revenue they generate helps them provide more aid to those in need.”

I never hear of any discount stores in Tasmania,,maybe the companies think we aren't worthy of any.

Wish there was some Discount stores in Western Sydney area

OK, if that’s what they say then I guess anyone can shop there.
