Hi, Tom, 65yo from Victoria

Hi, my name is Tom, I'm 65yo widower.
I still work, usually a 3 day week in the electronics service industry, no not TVs and refrigerators..😃
I live with my step-daughter and her hubby along with 2 1/2yo and 5yo grandsons, sharing rent etc, to help them save for a house.
My interests to varying degrees are Amateur Radio, Australian Supercars, electronic construction, microcontroller programming, model railways(GWR), making models in cardboard and SciFi(Dr Who rocks!!).

To keep my life sane I attend a Thursday Morning coffee time with other local amateur radio enthusiasts and edit the groups monthly newsletter.
I enjoy the jokes in the forum, taking some to the coffee morning to have a laugh at, the average age in the coffee group would be mid 60's.
Below is my Apollo11 Lunar Lander in cardboard.

Thanks.. Tom..

Hello @TomGeorge ! This might just be the coolest introduction I've seen yet! WELCOME TO THE GROUP 🥳

Your interests blew my mind I bet it would be awesome to hang out with you and learn a couple of new things. We're excited to learn more about you! 😁

Feel free to interact with the members through the various forums on here anytime! By the way, that Apollo11 Lunar Lander is SO neat. The things we humans can do always amaze me!

Thanks for the welcome Sethia.
I'll keep an eye out for any other amateur radio operators and Arduino microcontroller enthusiast on the forum.
The cardboard model was from a downloaded template, as are most of them, the lander occupied about three or four evenings, about 2 to 3 hours each.
I have made airplanes, space shuttle and dinosaurs for my grandkids, all strengthened/beefed up to last at least a week..lol.

Hi @TomGeorge -

I briefly played around with an Arduino but never really got the hang of it... Same for the Raspberry Pi - have you heard of those?

Welcome aboard :)
Hi Jonathan,
I have been a programmer for over 40 years, and Arduino for about 10years.
C++ language with the Arduino can be daunting to the beginner , if you need some help/advice feel free to ask.
I have a Pi, its still in its box... lol.
In my line of work I have used Arduino for small protects such as product testing and a coupe of remote sensing and or control applications.
