With a comfortingly creamy base of potato gratin, these bakes come in delectably layered flavour combinations. You can feast on the spinach and ricotta delicately twined with layers of potato or binge on the cauliflower and broccoli variety.

Of course, there's also the timeless classic original for the traditionalists among us. And every so often, ALDI decides to treat us with a limited edition Mushroom Truffle variant — something that can only be described as a culinary trip to heaven!

Priced at an incredibly budget-friendly $4.49, you can find these little bundles of joy tucked away in the freezer section. And preparation? Well, it’s as easy as can be. Whether you're a fan of the oven or you prefer the air fryer, these Gratin Bakes fit right in.

Word of these delights spread to the ALDI Mums Facebook page, sparking a wave of positive reviews and recommendations.

One fan posted a photo of the Spinach and Ricotta Potato Gratin she had just savoured, raving: 'Just tried these, and they are AMAZING. Highly recommend.'

Well, her review had fellow ALDI shoppers chiming in with equal fervour. 'They are all delicious,' praised one adoring customer, while another user chimed in, saying: 'Sooo good. Broccoli and cauli ones are my jammm.'

With all this enthusiasm, it's no wonder that these Gratin Bakes have become a staple in many Australian households. As one ALDI lover confessed bashfully, 'These are divine. But I need to really control myself so as not to eat the whole box in one go.'

It’s clear from all the praise that these Gratin Bakes aren’t just an occasional treat but are on regular rotation in many kitchens. As one shopper declared, 'Always have a box or two in the freezer'. Others went on about how they 'love the whole variety'.

Understandably so, when compared to similar products from other supermarkets, ALDI steals the show with its price tag. Woolworths, for instance, offers their version at $6.00 for a 4-pack, while the Coles alternative from McCain is even steeper at $8.60.

Key Takeaways

  • ALDI shoppers have found a new favourite in the form of Season's Pride Potato Gratin Bakes, which are versatile, savoury slices available in a variety of flavours.
  • The product, which is easily prepared in the oven or air fryer, is gaining a cult-like status, with many customers 'raving' about it on social media, particularly the ALDI Mums Facebook page.
  • Priced at a budget-friendly $4.49, many ALDI customers have shared that they always keep the gratin bakes stocked in their freezers.
  • The price point, lower than similar products available at competitors Coles and Woolworths, was highlighted as another reason for the gratin becoming a firm favourite in many households.

$4.49 for two titchy pieces of potato isn’t budget-friendly! You can buy two kg of spuds for that. And I’ve had these - they’re ok, but not worth buying again.

If they were made with Sweet Potato then I might be interested, they are much more healthier than white spuds.

Really... over $1.10 each? Agree they are the cheapest on offer, but not for that price. Make them yourself if you are that desperate - it's only sliced potatoes with white sauce and some veges - not that complicated!

These have been around for several years - not new at all but they are delicious!

Yes they are pricey. Last time I bought them there were 4 in the pack. Would love to know where I could get 2kg spuds for $4 though.

Woolworths, yesterday. 2kg potatoes for $4. Also my local greengrocer has 5 kg bags for $4.95! Don’t often buy them as 5kg is too much for us.
