Have you tried McDonald’s latest creation? Brand new chicken burger finally comes to Australia!

After a series of teasing posts on social media that hinted at a new burger launch, fast-food giant McDonald’s has finally unveiled the much-anticipated culinary mystery.

And for those of us who simply can't resist their delectable chicken offerings, it's pure good news!

Many hopes rested on the iconic McRib's return, while others had a hunch about the McChamp—a crispy chicken burger topped with tangy relish and mayonnaise. But everyone was surprised with the brand’s revelation.

Starting September 20, Macca’s fans can now try their McCrispy burger!

This mouthwatering creation, launched in the US last year, delights the senses with its crispy southern-style fried chicken sandwich topped with crinkle-cut pickles and enveloped in a toasted potato roll.

Early birds have already snapped up the opportunity to sample this offering, with many describing it as a fancy version of the McChicken burger.

Dre Pao, a snack connoisseur on social media, was sceptical about the new burger.

'It’s a close call. It’s got a potato bun, there is definitely a crisper layer on the chicken, and it’s thicker,' he said.

'It’s better than a McChicken.'

Confirming the speculations, a representative of McDonald’s announced: 'We’re excited to confirm that the McCrispy burger range will start to become available in Macca’s restaurants from Wednesday, September 20, ahead of its official launch next week.'

'Our crispiest chicken burger yet, the McCrispy features 100% Aussie RSPCA Approved chicken breast with a crispy coating, topped with fresh shredded iceberg and cos lettuce and a new McCrispy signature sauce, served in a soft glazed bun.’

'We look forward to sharing more of the deliciously crispy details with customers soon.’

This comes after reports that the country is preparing to face a potential chicken shortage of 'significant' proportions.

More than 1,000 workers at Inghams, the country's largest poultry producer—supplying stores such as Woolworths, Coles, ALDI, KFC, and Subway in South Australia and Western Australia—are gearing up for an industrial action on Friday.

The workers are hoping to secure a 6 per cent annual pay rise for the next three years, which equates to an extra $1.50 an hour per worker.

In other news, Macca’s Monopoly Game has made a comeback starting September 6 through October 24, customers can get an amazing selection of prizes with their exciting prize pool of $786 million!

Prizes include two ISUZU MU-X vehicles, $100,000 worth of EFTPOS e-gift cards, a free year’s worth of fuel from Ampol, 10 nights on a Pacific Islands P & O cruise and instant wins like Big Macs, fries, and McCafe coffees.

Previous winners of the game have claimed free fuel for a year, over $250,000 worth of gift vouchers, and a $10,000 THE ICONIC voucher.

Not at $16.15

A "potato bun" would be used for one reason knowing Maccas style. Most of their normal buns have a high sugar content so that it crystalises as moisture on toasting, negating the need for butter. From their own website - "sugar helps keep the buns moist and improves the toasted colour and the texture of the bread".

The potato bun will be carb loaded which will make what will probably be a tiny size seem more filling.

Being skeptical here.

I want a hamburger.... I don't want to buy the place...... that is a third of a week's groceries

As suspected, the wheat flour is partially or completely replaced by potato or potato flour.
Nothing wrong with using potatoes, except that those rolls contain an awful lot of sugar. If I was to make rolls using potatoes, there would be only enough sugar to activate the yeast.

This reminds me of an American recipe for pumpkin bread. The first time I made it, I reduced the sugar to about half of what the recipe said and that was still way too sweet. I still add sugar, but only a very small amount, the pumpkin bread is delicious!

Sure:

Pumpkin bread

3 1/2 cups of plain flour
2 teaspoons of baking soda
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 cup sugar (recipe calls for 3 cups) - even 1 cup may still be too sweet
1 cup pecans (could be replaced with walnuts)

4 eggs
1 1/2 cups of canned pumpkin (this is an American recipe, so I just use cooked mashed pumpkin)
1 cup of vegetable oil
2/3 cup water

Mix dry ingredients in a large bowl. Add pumpkin, oil and water, mix it all together.

They baked it in two 9" x 5" x 3" pans at 350 F (175 C) for one hour. Removed from pans and cool on wire rack.

While still warm brush it with butter and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.

I have also made this with sweet potatoes and it tasted delicous as well.
