Good old fashioned custard

we grew up with custard eaten with many things. it became a true comfort food!
here is the recipe and leaves the supermarket version for dead!
in a bowl add 2 tablespoons of custard powder 2 of sugar.
beat in an egg and beat till smooth and creamy.
Mix in 2 cups milk
best cooked in a saucepan, not the microwave which can make it gluggy.
heat gently, stirring until thick and just beginning to boil. Take off stove, add teaspoon or two of vanilla.
cool
many variations like fold in whipped egg whites then brown in the oven for a soufle type dish. The more custard powder the thicker.
Add more sugar and two tablesoons of cocoa.

Yummy custard. I grew up and still love it with a sliced banana.
