Get ready! KitKat just unveiled two exciting new flavours

Calling all chocolate lovers! It’s time to get excited, as one of our favourite chocolate brands just unveiled two brand-new flavours.

What's more, they're launching nationwide in all major supermarkets and convenience stores, and we’re sure it’ll have taste buds tingling around the country.

KitKat, one of Australia’s favourite chocolate brands, just launched two new flavours: KitKat Smooth Hazelnut and KitKat Mint Cookies and Cream! We don’t know about you but just the names already have some of us salivating!

The first flavour, Smooth Hazelnut, combines KitKat’s iconic wafer filled with delicious, fudge-like hazelnut praline coated in irresistibly smooth chocolate.

On the other hand, the Mint Cookies and Cream flavour is filled with a creamy combination of two fan-favourite flavours. Velvety mint and crunchy cookie pieces are found within the wafer and surrounded by rich milk chocolate.

Both varieties are sold in blocks – making them perfect for sharing (or not!). But only the Hazelnut flavour can be found in KitKat’s iconic four-finger bar.

The KitKat Smooth Hazelnut block weighs 170g and retails for $5.50, and the bar – which weighs 45g – can be bought for $2. Meanwhile, the KitKat Mint Cookies and Cream block also sells for $5.50 and weighs the same as the Hazelnut block.

Both are now available in stores across supermarkets and convenience retailers nationwide.

Shannon Wright, Nestlé’s Marketing Manager for Confectionery, said: ‘We’re excited to bring our KitKat fans this new range – to create truly indulgent “breaks”.’

She further stated that the new Smooth Hazelnut flavour ‘marks the first Aussie KitKat with real nuts and delicious praline filling’.

‘We know chocolate lovers are seeking more indulgence and these new KitKat flavours offer just that,’ she explained.

This comes after the brand announced a change in its bar in selected Coles supermarkets in the country. Starting this month, Aussies in Western Australia, South Australia, and the Northern Territory will have access to a ‘global first’ KitKat bar: a 45g four-finger bar exclusively sold in Coles.

The chocolate will come in a brand-new wrapper made from a combination of new and recycled paper. This move was made to reduce Nestlé’s use of ‘virgin plastic’ by a third by 2025. You can read more about this story here.

Before you go and pick up a bar (or block) for yourself, it’s important to be aware of the risks and benefits that come with this sweet treat.

On the positive side, studies have found that cocoa beans, from which chocolate is derived, carry a high number of polyphenols, which are said to have beneficial effects on vascular health. On the other hand, high-calorie chocolate bars aren’t necessarily good for your overall health.

It’s always a good idea to consult with a doctor first before regularly consuming high-calorie sweets since they can also advise you on how much you can eat safely without having to worry about your health. That said, everything in moderation is always a good motto!
