General Discussion Thread 16.04.2025

Rise and shine, superstars! Wednesday is here, and I hope a few surprises are peppered throughout your day. Me? I’m off to a surprising start after dropping my favourite pocket mirror. I’m not as superstitious as I used to be, so I’m not all that worried about bad luck. But I do need a new mirror. 😂 What about you? Are there some superstitions you follow to this day? Share them here.

I used to board with my aunt as a teenager, and she was superstitious of so many things.
Don't put an umbrella up inside, why would you?
Peacock feathers bought bad luck, who knew?
Obviously, so were black cats.
Opals were also unlucky. She had a lovely milk Opal ring, she never wore.
I asked if I could have it.
She was obviously right, the second time I wore it the opal fell out and it was lost.

Although I would not consider myself very superstitious, I am realising that is probably not the case. For instance, I will not walk under a ladder, braking a mirror is a worry, have to think twice about wearing green., knock on wood 3 times to ward of bad luck, will not wear opals, pearls (pearls for tears) wearing diamonds is another one, no wattle inside the house, dont`t put up an umberella inside the house. There are other`s too, my Grandmother and Mother were superstitious and this must have had a big impact on me.
