It’s a brand-new day! I hope today brings you something to smile about.

For me, I keep thinking about the incredible food my SDC friends brought over the weekend— @Athena E. even recreated @Danielle G.'s flan recipe, and let me tell you, it was that good! But more than the food, it was the laughter, stories, and just being in good company that made it truly special. You can check out Dani's recipe here.

Many years ago , my hubby was going away each week to work on the new Parliament House in Canberra. It was going to be Valentines time day the day after he flew in. I had carefully packed his bag, every fold of clothes l placed a funny little love notes. Some a bit naughty. Every thing he got out to wear for the next week or so had the notes. His first day there l always packed something to eat. Yep , notes in his food. I placed little coloured hearts (which l brought) in his socks and shoes and pockets. He said hearts were falling off him all week at work. Made for a lot of laughter.
It was early in our marriage, I'm sure he thought l was crazy. We still think up fun things on Valentines day, after 40+ years. Our kids loved the story. We still love when he talks about rendering a wall and he has 4 or 5 hearts around him. 🧡

Oh my gosh, I love this! That's so sweet ❤️

In 2008, when I was living with my parents, getting ready to come to Australia in 2009, we took a long road trip, to see family in Kansas City, Mo, and to look at retirement homes for my parents. My dad touched my heart by insisting that I had to be able to live with them (in case things didn't work out here).

We saw sooo many family, and it was amazing to see my first cousins kids, a HUGE amount of cousins.. LOL! Mom and I got to hold the infant of one of those many cousins, and it was amazing! First time I'd held one that small in years :) That baby is now 17 and growing into an incredible young woman :)

One of my cousins was sitting by me at a huge gathering at one of the houses. He was telling me who was who cause I was just boggled! One of the cousins has threatened to come pick Jason and I up at the airport when we get there. In a bus filled with cousins! Jason isn't used to huge families like mine ;)

Anyway, we then took a leisurely trip stopping at friends of theirs houses. We celebrated my 49th birthday with one set of friends. They took us to an amazing Italian restaurant!

Mom was almost in stitches a few times, saying how much Daddy and I were alike :) One time it was that we both dipped hash rounds in syrup. What? It's good! LOL! And then she was teasing me that I was so like Daddy in that we would talk to anyone. Yeah, no Mom, I'm shy, I said after I finished talking to a lady at a rest stop :)

We went by a place my Dad played in years ago. It was a nightclub under ground! Sadly it had been filled in years ago, but we had photos.

The last part of the trip was stopping first to see my brother and his family. Then the last stop was at my sister's family. It was wonderful, especially since my younger nephew finally spoke up, a bit aggravated by how his older brother always insisted on sitting with me in the car. I sat in the back seats with a boy on either side the rest of that one.. LOL! And when we left, the older one came running out with a Care Bear and hugged it tight. He gave it to me and told me when I missed him thqt i could hug the bear. Yes, I cried and yes, that bear is in our bedroom on a high shelf :)

Sorry for such a long ramble!

Love a good ramble thanks for sharing 🤗

When I was younger, so much younger than today, 🤭, and we were short of funds I packed a huge picnic basket with tucker, even oat slice that makes a thousand and costs tuppence ha’appeny to cook but with sprinkles on top, and we took the kids to the Summit for a picnic. The kids were 8, 6 and four and our then 4 year old is now almost 42. The two kids still talk about how that picnic was and they have done th same with their own children, and the grandchildren are taking their girl / boy friends there now❣️

The other not special special was “bottom of the fridge” dinners, which I cooked every Friday evening and used all the odds and sods from the fridge. It was just what I did to empty the fridge so I could clean it out and have space for Saturdays shopping. The kids asked for the recipe when starting their independent lifestyle and they were confused that it wasn’t our family’s special meal and there was no recipe to hand on❣️

I love a good “ramble.” You get to meet so many people on the Forum and you don’t even know if they are male, female, single married etc ………….. I thinks is nice to be able to get to know a little of the story of the person behind the moniker 😊😊
