I was seeing a lady from work, and had been going with her for a few months. Moved away from home, and now firm girlfriend followed. We decided maybe we should get married, upon telling my Mother she says
"Well that's the most senseable thing you've done in a long while" My Mother had liked Cheryl from the
word go, so Happy Mother. Then I messed it up and after getting married with hopped off to Australia to live.
(Was living in Cornwall UK at the time)

My dad said if you bored it is always your own fault because there is always something to cook, clean, paint draw, fix make, sew, wash, listen and if all else fails lay on the grass and watch the clouds. It worked. I’ve never been bored in my life.

There are times I wished i'd listened to what my mother told me, but sadly I didn't listen so I have no idea what she said 😯
Demi67, my relationship with my mother was, putting it very simply, tortuous. I didn’t listen to her much but what I heard was wounding. You might not consider yourself lucky but your relationship must have been of a level that you’re sad you didn’t listen. I think you were blest to have had at least that level of positivity. Take care. Hugs fur you 🤗

My dad gave me a piece of advice at the church doorway on my wedding day. He looked at his shoes, cleared his throat and said “if ever the grass looks greener on the other side of the fence it’s time to water your lawn.” Mum and dad were married for almost 66 years and my husband and I are almost at 48 years. There have been droughts but we’ve perservered

My Mum always said be honest and of good character - it's something you can't get back once you lose it. Also always say please and thankyou - 2 small words that don't cost anything but make a world of difference.
