FSANZ recalls popular Korean BBQ marinades from shelves for dangerous labelling error

In a recent development that has left many Australian food enthusiasts on high alert, a popular range of Korean BBQ marinades has been pulled from the shelves of some of the nation's favourite supermarkets.

The products, staples in many households for an authentic Asian culinary experience, have been recalled due to significant labelling oversight.

The O’Food Korean BBQ Bulgogi Beef Marinade and Korean BBQ Spicy Pork Marinade, sold at Woolworths, Coles, and various independent retailers including IGA, were found to contain undeclared allergens.

Specifically, they were incorrectly labelled as gluten-free, which poses a serious health risk to those with gluten allergies or intolerances.

The affected 280g bottles carry best-before dates of April 16 and March 10 for the next year, respectively.

For those who are not aware, gluten is a protein found in wheat, barley, rye, and oats.

It can cause a range of symptoms in people with celiac disease or non-celiac gluten sensitivity, from digestive issues to severe allergic reactions.

The importance of accurate food labelling cannot be overstated, as it is crucial for consumers who rely on this information to make safe dietary choices.

The recall has been issued nationally, meaning these products were distributed nationwide and could be in the pantries of many unsuspecting consumers.

If you have purchased either of these marinades, you can return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Food Standards Australia New Zealand, the statutory authority responsible for food safety, issued the recall and has advised that ‘Any consumers concerned about their health should seek medical advice.’

The recent recall of Ofood Korean BBQ marinades from Woolworths, Coles, and IGA due to incorrect labelling highlights our supermarkets' ongoing food safety issue.

However, it's not just marinades causing concern. In another alarming development, a popular gluten-free bread has also been urgently pulled from shelves due to a harmful ingredient.

This recent recall further underscores the importance of vigilance when it comes to the ingredients in our food.

I would like to know when they are going to put a STOP to Vegetable oil. We are ALL allergic to that, but heaps don't realise.

What a daft odd thing to say Of course you’d know if your allergic to it why wouldn’t you and why do you say “we are all allergic” you don’t know that I know I’m not allergic.😎

While there are genuine allergic reactions to gluten, peanuts, milk, etc for some people more unfortunate health-wise than others, I think that many people’s allergies might be contributed to by ‘just over-eating’. Everything in moderation, I say. And we cannot generalise by saying everyone is allergic to vegetable oil.

It all depends if you take everything MSM as truth - although 2 weeks ago on Sunrise there was a talk about cooking all what was good for you and what wasn't. The 1st group of GOOD Oils was Olive Oil & the last group to stay away from was VEGETABLE OILs. Some people are NOT aware of what processed food & vegetable oils are doing to their health. Some people don't want to know but don't mind being sick and have to be on meds. Soe just don't want to research as was evident in 2020 onwards. Have you looked at:

OK I will change y comment from 'everyone is allergic' to say everyone should stay away from vegetable oil as one should stay away from roundup but it is everyone's choice to put whatever in & on their body just as it was in 2020 - NOT !

Some people think that if they are possibly sensitive to something, that they are allergic. Hugely different. Anyone truly allergic to a food or substance etc that could possibly suffer a serious or fatal reaction, would read the ingredients thoroughly and not take chances.

I don’t know why all the fuss I don’t fn care anyway cos I don’t use it anymore anyway and haven’t for years I use olive oil. So thanks for the banter Annie relieved my boredom for a whole 10 minutes.🤣🤣🤣🤣
I only use olive and avocado oils. Avocado oil is good for frying as it has a high smoke point and olive oil is great for salads. Both taste delicious. 😋

Such a wonderful website that promotes garbage from a Russian fake news site, claiming that Larry Emdur has been arrested for some fraudulent money scam. The same Russian clowns go under the guise of a pet product supplier.

If you said the sky was blue on a cloudless summer day, I would honestly walk outside to verify that statement
