Another day, another recall, eh? Members, this recall has a use-by date of today (February 27th), however, we want to make sure no members are planning on using this product for dinner tonight as it holds serious risks.

The product?

Farmland Greens has recalled their Alfalfa Sprouts, 125g. The product was available for sale at Coles in Western Australia. The only date range impacted (as of writing) is Use By – 27.02.23.

The recall is due to microbial contamination, specifically Salmonella. So definitely don’t risk it!

Food products contaminated with Salmonella can cause illness if consumed.

What are the symptoms of salmonella?

Symptoms may include:

• fever
• diarrhoea
• loss of appetite
• headache
• stomach cramps
• nausea and vomiting
• blood or mucus in stools

Does it not seem strange that a lot of food items are being recalled lately due to contamination. What’s happened to the quality control processes.??? That are supposed to be in place . … It too late once a person had eaten it.

Maybe the manufacturers should do a quality check and ensure staff are following the correct processes especially if they haven’t done it in a long time. Too late to if a person or a child dies.

We were actually just having this conversation in the office! It certainly seems that they are a dime a dozen these days...

As I said in a previous Post on all these re-calls we are having lately, obviously our standard of checks on production & farming of these items has fallen. There is far too much getting to the shops in the first place. Places need be monitored frequently for health standards, staff trained correctly etc. Never have I known it to be so bad.

Whatever happened to food safety standards 40 years ago we hardly got any recalls now it's every couple of days
