Former Home and Away star Orpheus Pledger becomes subject of arrest warrant

The world of celebrity can often be as dramatic off-screen as it is on, and for fans of Australian soaps, the latest news about former star Orpheus Pledger might come as quite a shock.
Known for his role as the charming Mason Morgan on Home and Away from 2016 to 2019, Pledger is now the subject of an arrest warrant after a series of events that seem straight out of a soap opera plotline.
Orpheus Pledger, whose acting career also includes a stint on Neighbours and a recent appearance on the gruelling reality show SAS Australia in 2022, has found himself in a real-life predicament that's far from the scripted dramas he's used to.
The 30-year-old actor was on remand for an alleged assault against a woman last month. However, the plot thickened when Pledger failed to show up for his court date.
The situation escalated when it was revealed that Pledger had been taken to Royal Melbourne Hospital for a court-ordered mental health assessment but reportedly left the facility overnight.
This unexpected turn led to his lawyer informing the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court that Pledger had escaped when he was supposed to finalise his bail application via video link on Tuesday, 23 April.
The magistrate was frustrated and told the court, ‘I’ll never make an order like that again. I bent over backwards to try and offer someone mental health treatment as they required.’
Now, with an arrest warrant issued, police are actively searching for Pledger, who is believed to frequent the Northcote area and its surroundings.
Described as approximately 170 cm tall with brown hair and a tanned complexion, authorities are urging the public to keep an eye out.
