Five-star hotel called out by a hotel guest for AWFUL services – such as a mismatched bedsheet (the horror!)

A disappointed Aussie has taken to social media to complain about their most recent hotel experience.

Sharing on the forum site Reddit, he revealed that he got the 'short end of the stick' when he went to stay in a popular five-star hotel in Sydney.

The hotel guest revealed that his experience at the Meriton Suites in North Sydney has been nothing but "awful", and on top of that, he was left shocked and confused when he discovered that the bedsheet provided in his room was not what he expected.

Instead of a soft linen sheet bearing the name of the five-star hotel or some high-end brand, the label on the white bedsheet read "NSW HealthShare, 50% cotton 50% polyester".

This means that the bedsheet provided to the Aussie was made from polycotton, which is known to be used in hospitals and is different from the usual hotel-quality linens.

What's worse is that some users on the forum said that the hotel usually has 100 per cent cotton sheets that feel soft and heavenly to touch – however, that was not the case for this irate Aussie.

The fuming hotel guest posted a picture of the low-quality sheet on Reddit, asking other users for help to explain why he received second-rate customer service in the popular hotel.

Eventually, other users explained to him that the hotel was probably used as a COVID-19 quarantine facility during the early months of the pandemic.

Once mandatory quarantines were no longer required, the facility became a normal hotel once again but the bedsheets were probably left there and got mixed in with the hotel's regular laundry.

"They're from NSW Healthshare," confirmed one user. "There's an RFID in there because they go through an industrialised laundry like Parramatta Linen Service and then get redistributed out to public health facilities such as hospitals within NSW."

"Looks like Meriton kept the hospital sheets," he added.

Have you been to any hotels in the past few months, folks? Did you have a similar experience with this guy?

If it was a 5 star hotel then why would they use hospital's bed sheet ??

OMG! Stop the world, some poor hapless housekeeper made the bed with the wrong sheets!! How "entitled" do you have to be to not be able to sleep in anything but 100% cotton. Get over yourself fella, be thankful that you can afford a 5 star hotel when some in our community don't have a roof over their heads, let alone a fancy bed.:rolleyes::LOL:

Oh no! Another first world problem! Get a grip mate! It’s probably escaped your attention, but 90% of the world’s population have never slept in a bed with proper sheets. If you consider this to be worth photographing and sharing to social media, you have no idea how blessed you are. You also have no idea how whiny and picky you are!

well I have stayed in Meriton hotels, especially Central and Parramatta, though not since the pandemic. Their service is impeccable and their linen is nothing less than to die for!!! What a shame someone has to post on social media a hiccup that could have been resolved so easily by talking to the staff at the front desk. Congrats to Meriton and any other hotel that open their doors to travellers during the pandemic

This has brought back a memory .....years ago, we used to drive to Queensland from Melbourne for holidays.
The drive up and back was part of the holiday, we stayed at delightful country towns along the way.
My 2 children alternated their choice each night which bed they would sleep in.
One night, my daughter 'got' the camp bed, my son chose the proper bed.
The next morning, as always, I threw back the blankets to make sure the bed was empty, no toy left behind.
When I threw back the bedding of the camp bed, there was a dirty sock (not my daughter's) in the bed.
I gasped, my daughter looked at me, and I said I'd stubbed my toe.
I have never told her that she'd slept in the bed which someone else had slept in.....obviously, the cleaner had not changed the sheets after the previous person had left. The bed had just been folded up and returned to the store room.
We just left the motel....it was very early in the morning, and the office wasn't open.
We'd settled the account the night before.
Never stayed there again!
Their loss.

Amazing how people react to things they "perceive" as "not up to standard" or "poor service" etc without considering anyone or anything other than themselves.
In this case it doesn't matter whether the hotel was a Covid hotel or a backpackers hotel, the hotel doesn't do the laundry. All the laundry is done by an external launderer, who has most likely returned the bedsheet to the hotel as part of the hotels total laundry. Now imagine the hotel unfolding every sheet to ensure it is theirs and not mislabelled, imagine the cleaner unfolding every bedsheet to make sure it is the property of the hotel at which they are employed.....
Geez, just get a life and be thankfull you are able to enjoy the plushness of a 5 star hotel, or any hotel for that matter........and if you don't like the branding on the sheet, BYO!!!!

I always wonder what people did before technology existed!! Were they so worried about complaining, or is it a new trend to have followers or likes on their posts?
People are such wingers these days. I think that a month in a developing country, would teach them some good lessons.
The person complaining about the sheets should count his/hers blessings. 🤦🏻🤦🏻🤦🏻

I know we all like to get a fair deal for what we pay for but Oh, do you ever hop into bed of a night & think how lucky you are to be warm, cosy & with a tummy full simply realise what a lucky fella you really are to even have a roof over your head? Get with it mate. All of us have had turmoil over these two & a half years. Grizzling over sheets that are not cotton 100% for Heavens sake. Think of those people in Ukraine stripped of all possessions with no roof over their heads & fear in their hearts. A country stripped of dignity, their loved ones arms & dreading what is going to be their fate? I could cry just typing this. Please think twice in future & get your brain in gear before your mouth utters such criticism over trifles. We all have hiccups in life & just thank God for another day coming up.

Hello, Jamesacg! It is not a surprise for me, and big hotels were trying to survive during the COVID-19 pandemic, so I believe these guys were trying hard to keep their business. In many countries, the government didn't help hotels in times of lockdown, so I don't wonder if it will appear more similar in other hotels. Even I faced minor issues when visiting my favorite hotel in Costa Rica after the pandemic lockdown ended, JungleVistaHotel.com. Thankfully they managed to solve all my problems shortly, and I also understand their struggle from my side.
