Find out which beloved chocolate Woolworths is axing from their stores

The confectionery aisle at supermarkets like Woolworths has long been a treasure trove for those with a sweet tooth, offering a variety of treats that have become staples in Australian pantries.

However, shoppers have recently been left scratching their heads and grappling with disappointment as one of the nation's most cherished chocolates has vanished from Woolworths' shelves, leading to a wave of dismay and nostalgia among customers.

For over a century, Allen's Jaffas have delighted Australians with their distinctive crunchy red shell and zesty orange-flavoured chocolate centre.

The popular chocolate balls, which have a distinctive bright red hard shell and soft orange chocolate centre, have been delighting Australian taste buds since their release in 1931.

A staple at movie theatres and family gatherings, Jaffas has not only been a treat but also a part of Australian culture, often rolled down the aisles in cinemas for a bit of cheeky fun.

Unfortunately for fans of the treat, Woolworths confirmed that Jaffas had been removed from all their supermarkets during an internal product range review.

‘We’re constantly reviewing the range of products we sell and that can mean some are replaced,’ a Woolworths spokesperson said.

‘We’re always working to make sure we stock the range of products that have the broadest customer appeal.’

For many, just a single bite transports them straight back to childhood. The combination of textures and flavours creates a truly distinctive eating experience unmatched by any other confectionery.

It remains unclear whether other major retailers will follow suit, but supermarkets such as Coles and BIG W still stock the beloved product.

Fortunately, Nestlé has assured sweet tooths that the disappearance from Woolworths shelves is only temporary.

'Allen's Jaffas are sold through Coles, independent supermarkets and convenience stores nationally,' a spokesperson confirmed.

'They’ll be back in store in Woolworths in 2024.'

Many have decried Woolworth's decision and are calling on them to reverse it due to public pressure.

‘Why don’t you stock these anymore?’ asked one shopper online.

We also have a cheeky poll in SDC where you can vote which treat you prefer between Jaffas or another beloved Aussie lolly. You can access the link here and let your verdict be known!

Oh no🙀what are we going to roll down the aisle or throw over the balcony.🤣🤣😢

It’s time the our supermarkets etc. realised that their customers are Australian & we eat biscuits not cookies, jam not jelly, chocolates not candy & sour pickles not Yanky sweet ones. Americans call scones biscuits for goodness sake & have a sweet tooth that urges them to eat
pancakes & maple syrup with their bacon & eggs.

Aren't Woolies being slammed for everything these days. I only go there if I'm really need something between my 160k round trip to Aldi. My idea for a new slogan
"Woolwoths the rip off people, We'll scam your money from you."

The news tonight stated that JAFFAS WOULD BE REMOVED FROM WOOLWORTHS SHELVES BUT NOT BIG W. I am confused now. Aren't they the same (parent) company?

Rolling JAFFAS down a wooden movie theatre floor used to be possible, but when was the last time you visited a movie theatre without carpet on the floor? Damn Party Poopers!

Definitely. I can remember back approx 61 years when l was first allowed to go to a movie theatre in Perth, W.A. with my younger brother in tow & then years later, brother & sister.

Those were the days when ladies wore a wide brimmed hat to the movies & blocked the view of people behind. 🤬

Exactly. On one occasion this happened to my brother & the only way to see was to sit in the armrest for the whole movie. Couldn't ask to move either because the theatre was full, couldn't look under the hat either & l wasn't going to offer to swap seats & endure the same thing. 😯 Wonder if they had booster seats available?
