I'm sure this should be: 'Don't spoil the ship for an ha'porth of tar' or perhaps a penn'oth but as this is not an option and drops of tar' are difficult to come by, I'm left with Dab or Shilling. The latter can be discarded I think and giving it a little thought, perhaps 'penn'oth is a little too archaic. I am going to go for Penny, although it still doesn't ring true in my ears
