Fans were shocked by this popular Neighbours star's ‘jaw-dropping’ transformation

Ah, Neighbours. It's an Aussie soap that captured plenty of hearts and minds since it first graced our TV screens back in 1985. Over the years, we've come to lovingly know its characters – even some of the villains! – like family.

For 37 years, Stefan Dennis (who played Paul Robinson) has been a major player on this popular show. However, it wasn't until the show’s recent 'extended hiatus' that made fans realise just how much the show’s 'antihero' changed.

We all know him as the villainous and menacing Paul Robinson, but the man behind the character has undergone a remarkable transformation recently.

Neighbours veteran Stefan Dennis joined his co-star and fellow fan favourite, Alan Fletcher (Dr Karl Kennedy) in NSW at ‘Dog on a Tuckerbox’. The pair took a photo to commemorate the memory – but something felt amiss: Stefan’s classic cool look fans came to expect from watching him in Neighbours.

In the photo, Stefan was wearing aviator sunglasses and seemed to have traded his well-groomed short locks for a shaggy haircut. To top off the new look, Stefan had a grey stubble goatee.

Many social media users commented on the image – most of them expressed shock at how different Stefan looked now.

‘Loving Stefan’s new look,’ someone shared.

‘That definitely does not look like Paul Robinson!’ Added another.

One user mused: ‘Stefan’s got to keep the new look for his Neighbours return.’ While another joked: ‘Paul are you in there?’

Some took the opportunity to joke about possible storylines surrounding Stefan’s new look.

‘Is that the Neighbours spin-off where Paul Robinson lives in Byron Bay?’ Quipped one.

‘I’d proper love it if Paul came back to Neighbours all chilled out with floppy hair and a beard,’ shared another. Someone else replied to this comment and said: ‘I was just thinking this. He’d been on a yoga and meditation retreat and “found himself”.’

Speculations surrounding the pair’s mini-reunion come after news of Neighbours’ revival despite the show’s initial cancellation.

A new series will begin filming next year, and fans will get to see Stefan, Alan Fletcher, Ryan Moloney, and Jackie Woodburne reprising their roles.

Stefan spoke up about the public’s outcry on the show’s cancellation announcement and said that he found it ‘unbelievable’.

‘I’d pretty much moved on, like most of us, I guess. People had treated it as if somebody had died,’ he joked.

However, Stefan shared that he found out about the reboot a week before everyone else. He explained that their executive producer came to tell him personally.

‘It didn’t break until a week after that.’

Yes, an absolute world shatterer, an event for the ages, no doubt about it. Can we talk about something INTERESTING, please? If I let my hair grow long and didn't shave for a few days, would that be world news, or even Strayan news? If the rest of the male population did the same, maybe they could turn that into another "reality" teevee extravaganza?

And I wonder how many of them believe that what they see on the cretiniser is, in fact, really happening?
