Fact of the Day: Water boils faster at higher altitudes

Did you know that water can boil at lower temperatures if the pressure is reduced? Due to the lower atmospheric pressure, water boils differently in Mount Everest compared to the usual 100°C. Any temperature guesses? Find out more below.

I have found that if you turn the gas up to higher temperature the water boils faster than if you turn the gas down to a lower temperature. lol

FYI: At the top of Mount Everest, water boils at approximately 68°C (154°F). This is because the atmospheric pressure is significantly lower at that high altitude, requiring less heat to transform water into a gas.

This got me thinking .... so on the moon (a near perfect vacuum) .... In a perfect vacuum, water would boil at approximately 40°C (104°F). This is because the boiling point of water decreases as the surrounding pressure decreases.
