Fact of the Day: The modern office chair evolved thanks to...
The wheeled office chairs that we once enjoyed in our workplaces went through years of development.
However, one of its credited inventors is an unexpected figure in history!
Though best known for his work as a naturalist, Charles Darwin played a role in the evolution of office chairs.
He was credited with modifying his existing armchair as he replaced the legs with wheels from his bed to improve mobility.
While Darwin did not invent the concept of a wheeled chair, he contributed to its development, leading up to the modern wheeled office chairs we use and love today. Talk about evolution!
