Fact of the Day: Is this the grandfather of headphones?
Before bluetooth earphones became all the rage, the best way to enjoy music was through good ol’ wired headphones.
While headphones come in different shapes and sizes today, where did its form originate?
The first pair of headphones commercially sold to the public was from Beyerdynamic.
The German audio brand manufactured the DT 48. Released in 1937, the DT 48 saw commercial success.
Early iterations of DT 48 saw features that made headphones unique: a headband connecting two earmuffs that produces sound.
While Beyerdynamic has released multiple headphones over the years, the DT 48 is still available to this day.
