Fact of the Day: 1% of the world's population is ambidextrous

Did you know that while most people favour one hand, a rare 1% of the population can use both hands equally well? This skill, known as ambidexterity, allows people to perform tasks effortlessly.

I am ambidextrous…..have been all my life!!
I write both left and right handed in cursive or print, use a knife and fork in either hand.
Can only use chopsticks in my left hand🥢though!!

I had brain surgery years ago and unfortunately there was some nerve damage. At first they thought I would be a quadriplegic from the neck down. With extensive rehabilitation for twelve months I was able to walk again and have most of my mobility though I get tired more easily. My right side (the dominate side) is now not as strong as the left, so I have learned to use my left side more, meaning that I use both sides quite equally now, writing isn't as good though in the left. Last night I had to fix a kitchen cupboard and using the screw driver - all with my left had as it was easier for access. I am able to switch between the two. This has been out of necessity, but you learn to train your body. I feel very privileged to be able to be mobile at all.

Benny’s Light.
So sorry to hear that you suffered a stroke.
But on the other hand I am so happy for you that you have been able to overcome your tragedy & excel to the way you are today.

Keep smiling 😊😊😊😊👍

Glad to hear you are managing now. l had an accident years ago which left me partly paralysed and l know how hard it is to learn to sit up , move your arms, get your hands to work and walk so good for you for getting better.
As my right side is affected l had to learn to use my left hand which took about six months .

Absolutely not - very right handed only. Wish I could use my left more.
