Exclusive $2 coins hit Woolworths shelves—find out how to get your hands on them!

Attention all numismatists and shoppers alike!

Woolworths has teamed up with the Royal Australian Mint to release a series of exclusive $2 coins to spark excitement among collectors and patriotic Australians.

These coins are not just currency; they're a celebration of the spirit of the Olympic and Paralympic games, and they're coming to Woolworths near you.

The new $2 coins are a tribute to the upcoming 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and they're only available through Woolworths stores.

That's right, to get your hands on these limited edition coins, you'll need to pay a visit to your local Woolies and pay in cash.

Woolworths has announced, 'To celebrate the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic games, the Royal Australian Mint is releasing four new coins. Check your change in stores to secure one of these limited edition coins.'

The collection includes three $2 coins with themes centred around the 2024 Australian Olympic Team and one $2 coin dedicated to the 2024 Australian Paralympic Team.

Adorned in the nation's iconic green and gold, these coins are not only legal tender but also a piece of art.

The first to be released is the 2024 $2 Australian Olympic Team Community coin, which features a design that includes a kangaroo, an emu, the Commonwealth Star, and the Olympic rings.

Following the Community coin, collectors can look forward to the AllezAus and Olympism coins, which depict kangaroos in athletic competition against the backdrop of the Eiffel Tower.

Here's the release schedule for these must-have coins:
  • 2024 $2 Australian Olympic Team Community: 17 July
  • 2024 $2 Australian Olympic Team AllezAus: 31 July
  • 2024 $2 Australian Olympic Team Olympism: 14 August
  • 2024 $2 Australian Paralympic Team: 28 August
But wait, there's more! Earlier this year, the Mint also released two $1 coins celebrating the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

These coins, which featured vibrant designs of a swimmer and a table tennis player, retailed for $20 each.

However, savvy collectors have already seen their value increase, with some fetching as much as $85 for a pair on eBay.

Mint CEO Leigh Gordon expressed the sentiment behind these collectibles: 'These stunning keepsakes will be treasured for years to come and will serve as a reminder of the sense of pride and achievement we have in our athletes.'

This comes after Woolworths announced they are the official Fresh Food Partner of the Australian and Olympic Paralympic teams.

The supermarket also decided to sell Australian flags in time for the 2024 Paris Olympics, following a controversy over not stocking the nation’s flag on Australia Day.
