Having mentioned that, we would like to share with you a list of grocery items that you should keep an eye out for a brain-healthy pantry.

The brain specialist said that your mindset plays a key role in your food choices, emphasising that a focus on 'deprivation' or a negative attitude will make you feel sicker and 'foggier' for longer.
'Your attitude, or mindset, may be the single most important factor in feeling better fast. When your mindset is one of deprivation and your focus is on what you cannot have, you are more likely to remain mired in illness and brain fog,' he wrote.
The renowned celebrity psychiatrist also advised against sugary fast foods and beverages, claiming that these items can cause inflammation and illnesses such as diabetes, heart disease, cancer, depression, dementia, and early death.
Sources of healthy fat, such as coconut, almond or macadamia-nut oils, guacamole, and almond or coconut butter and spreads, should be at the top of your shopping list as these contain the essential nutrients for the brain.

Dr Amen also included protein powder, coconut wraps, quinoa, raw, unsalted seeds and nuts like chia flax or hemp and frozen or fresh fruit like strawberries, blueberries and raspberries as brain-healthy foods.
As for the sweeteners, using alternatives such as Stevia or Sweetleaf is better than using sugar.
Other sweeteners include the antioxidant-packed goji berry powder and maca root — a Peruvian vegetable said to have a variety of health benefits.
