“Did you know that you can make your own vinegar using apple scraps that you would’ve just thrown away?” she said.
Brennan Kai, from Florida, DIYs bottles of apple cider vinegar at home with only three ingredients and uses the mixture to clean and cook.
To make the apple cider, she first gathers the scraps from the fruit, such as peels and cores, and then places them inside a container to then be kept in a freezer.
Once the container is full, she places the fruit remains into a separate glass jar and fills it with water until the apple scraps are completely submerged. Brennan proceeds by adding a tiny amount of sugar into the water. She then drapes a tea towel over the opening and seals the jar lid.
She lets the glass jar sit inside a cool, dry area for three to four weeks which allows the apple bits to ferment and break down. After the fermentation process, the homemade apple cider vinegar is strained and ready to be used for cooking or cleaning.
