Disturbing discovery exposes gross reason for caution with your next parcel delivery

In a world where online shopping has become as routine as a morning cuppa, the convenience of parcel lockers has been a boon for many Australians.

However, a recent incident has left many questioning the cleanliness of these collection points and the behaviour of some fellow Aussies.

A disturbing trend has emerged at an Australia Post parcel collection locker at Crown Square in Waterloo, south of Sydney City.

A conscientious local, dismayed by the sight, took to social media to expose the growing pile of empty coffee cups accumulating next to the lockers.

The online image showed the cups stacked almost methodically atop a broken wooden panel, accompanied by additional rubbish crammed inside.

'Can council or the management of the Crown Square retail precinct please install a bin or at least send the cleaner? ' The local implored.

‘Every day "coffee cup mountain" grows taller.’

The community's reaction was swift and sharp, with many echoing the frustration and calling for the council to act.

Some suggested that rangers should monitor the lockers and fine those caught littering, while others pointed out the irony of a bin being a mere 20 metres away.

‘The worst thing is there is a bin about 20m away on the other side of the road. Must be hard to use your legs,’ one said.

One commenter raised the admirable example of Japan, where it's customary for people to take their rubbish home if a bin isn't immediately available.

The City of Sydney has been approached for a statement regarding this issue.

Similarly, an online thief snatched $200 worth of presents moments after they arrived at an ACT resident's home.

The theft, captured on a security camera, raised concerns that thieves might be trailing Australia Post vans to steal packages. Read more about the incident here.
