Discover the $19 cooling item from Kmart that's got everyone talking!

We all know how the summer heat can bring us down. When it's just too hot to leave the house and it's becoming too difficult to get a good night's sleep—we have to get creative.

That's why Kmart customers across Australia are excited about a new cooling gadget perfect for summer!

The Evaporative Cooler Rechargeable—which retails for $19—has been hailed a ‘godsend’ and treated by many as the perfect air con alternative.

This personal cooling device has two ice packs, a USB cord, a mobile phone holder, three adjustable speeds (low, medium and high), and a rechargeable battery lasting up to five hours.

Plus, the device isn't just great for hot days spent indoors—many have been taking it with them when they go camping, as well.

Queensland mum Jodie was one of the lucky ones who got their hands on the coveted coolers in time for the summer.

'If you don't have air con, you should check this out,’ she said in a video posted on social media.

‘I actually bought it for my son because his bedroom is really hot, but it's really handy for my desk, [too].'

The cooler received several positive reviews online, with most customers saying it 'does the job'.

‘My mum has no air-conditioning. She got the Kmart evaporative cooler...and she said it’s been a godsend. She rents, so it’s the best she can do,’ one said.

‘Definitely works, especially if you put ice packs in the water section,’ another commented.

One revealed: 'As long as the humidity is low, the cooler will do a reasonable job. Make sure there is airflow (open some shaded windows or something) through the house while it's on, or it will get very humid.'

The mini devices have been so popular that the retailer recently sold out of the cooling gadget and is yet to restock.

Reviews came weeks after Bunnings had a similar three-in-one version with the same noise levels and a few extra features for $24.

This three-in-one mini USB Air cooler contains a filter, an ice pack, and a 27ml water tank capacity lasting up to six hours. The cooler also has three modes—cooling, misting, and humidifying.

One shopper shared her ‘Best Bunnings Buys’ and how it's improved their sleep and comfort levels during the warm summer nights in her video online.

‘I’ve just bought the best little thing from Bunnings that you could ever get,’ one shopper said.

‘It’s changed my life.’

The cooler can also be used with water, an ice pack or dry.

‘It can be dry as a fan, with cold water, cold water with ice pack, or you can put ice cubes in,’ she explained.

‘You don’t have to refill it...it just acts as a fan. But cool water lasts a couple of hours. The ice block makes it hold less water.’

The shopper said she had used this on her bedside table and even facing her pillow to keep her cool.

Many customers have taken to the Bunnings website to rave about this air cooler.

‘Works well if you place some water in a jug and place it in the fridge, just top up when required. I am working from home with no air conditioning. This little unit works so good on my desk. So reasonable for what it is,’ one reviewed.

‘Great little cooler when you need a breeze on your face at night instead of turning the air con on. Will take it camping also. Love it and have also gifted a few,’ another said.

A third added, ‘For the price, you really can’t expect too much, but I have to say it’s a great little unit. A nice soft cool breeze blows out of it, and it’s not loud at all. I put it on my bedside table at night and did not break out in a sweat, so it must have worked.’

However, not everyone was delighted with the product.

A customer said, ‘Water runs out very fast and weak power, good for a light breeze if you don’t want large air con running all night.’

I had one of these and it would be the useless thing ever invented They are fitted with a computer fan. Do you really thing that will cool you down on a hot day. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY.

From the cost and size indicated, it is really probably meant to cool your face not your whole body or your room, no matter it’s size. Probably meant to refresh you a bit.
