One of the most popular cereal brands we all know and love has undergone a subtle but significant brand makeover.
Kellogg's, the name behind the Coco Pops, Sultana Brown, and Corn Flakes many enjoy eating every morning, is quietly changing its name to Kellanova as part of a plan to bring more 'on-the-go' snack options to Australia.
This name change won't be reflected in any way on the boxes coming from your local grocery store.
The Kellogg's logo looks the same as ever, and the cereal experience you know and love will also stay unchanged.
However, Kellanova’s Managing Director Anthony Holme said this rebranding will be felt more in the future.
'It means much more choice for Australian consumers in the future as we bring… global snacking opportunities and local snacking opportunities into Australia,' said Holme.
The change comes after the US headquarters’ landmark decision to divide the $31.3 billion multinational company into two.
Kellogg's US headquarters explained that when they decided to split the business into two they wanted to make sure it was still recognisable that the companies share the same lineage.
Kellanova decided to keep the 'Kell' part of Kellogg's in the new name, which references the company's original founder, William Keith Kellogg. While 'anova' is the combination of the letter 'a' and the Latin word 'nova', which means new.
Kellanova is gearing up to develop innovative snack foods while keeping known brands under their care such as K-Time bars, Pop Tarts, and LCMs.
While the North American cereal business, now called WK Kellogg Co, will handle brands such as Frosted Flakes, Froot Loops, and more.
The bigger of the two entities, Kellanova, expects net sales of $21 billion by 2024 compared to the $3.5 billion projection of WK Kellogg Co.
Meanwhile, earlier this year, one woman found an ‘outrageous’ price increase on Aussie breakfast staple Coco Pops.
The Aussie visited her local Coles store and was stumped at a sign promoting a seemingly outlandish deal on a certain cereal.
The disgruntled shopper showed a promotional deal offering two 650-gram boxes of Kellogg's Coco Pops cereal for $17.10.
According to the yellow sticker, a ‘saving of $1.90’ could be made if customers bought two boxes priced at $9.50 each.
Based on some reports, this is a massive jump in price, as a similar-sized box cost only $7.50 in 2022.

In other news, brand Darrell Lea has paired its skills with Kellogg’s to deliver a new sweet treat.
They launched a treat called Darrell Lea Crunchy Nut Corn Flakes Chocolate Block, which is a mouth-watering blend of irresistible chocolate and the classic breakfast cereal.
It’s available at Coles for only $2.75 from its previous price of $5.50.
