We all know the importance of looking after our skin, but sometimes we can neglect the delicate skin around our eyes.
However, as celebrity physician Dr Ginni Mansberg has revealed, this is an area we really need to focus on if we want to maintain a youthful appearance.
Dr Ginni, who is better known as the Embarrassing Bodies Down Under GP, swears by micro-needling for keeping the signs of aging at bay.
However, not all patients have the time and budget to have the procedure done in a clinical setting.
So, Dr Ginni has released dissolvable eye patches in a bid to make the treatment more accessible to the public!
The patches have been taking the beauty world by storm, with many people claiming that they've seen a noticeable difference in the appearance of their skin after using them.

In fact, the doctor's skincare brand, ESK, said that the company sold a patch every minute on the product’s launch day to men and women who were looking to maintain their youthful appearance.

The doctor also gave some skincare tips on taking care of the skin around your eyes:
1. Dissolving microneedle patches to the skin around the eyes.
Micro-needling around the eyes is a great way to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, as well as dark circles and puffiness. The procedure involves using a small, handheld device to create tiny punctures in the skin. This stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, which helps to plump and smooth the skin.
But, as previously stated in this article, not everyone has access to the procedure. So, a good alternative is to use dissolving eye patches, which could give anti-ageing benefits similar to the procedure.
2. An eye cream with caffeine in it
Caffeine stimulates blood circulation around the eye, preventing it from looking puffy or dark. Credit: ESK.
We all know that one of the worst things that can happen to our appearance is when we get dark circles under our eyes. Not only do they make us look tired, but they can also make us look older than we are.
There are a number of factors that can contribute to dark circles, including lack of sleep, stress, and genetics. But one thing that can help is using an eye cream with caffeine in it.
Caffeine not only helps constrict blood vessels, which reduces the amount of fluid that leaks into the under-eye area, but it also stimulates blood circulation around the eye. This helps the skin around the eye look fresh and rejuvenated.
So if you're looking for a way to help brighten up your appearance, consider using an eye cream with caffeine. It just might be the boost you need.
3. Use a tyrosinase inhibitor like 4-n-butylresorcinol if you have dark circles
Dr Ginni explained: "'Try a tyrosinase inhibitor to reduce the production of pigment in the skin. Don’t forget 4-n-butylresorcinol is available in your skincare and is at least as (if not more) effective at shutting down melanin production altogether than other tyrosinase inhibitors."
4. Use high-quality skincare products
The ingredients used in other skincare products also work on the skin around your eyes.
"Use high-quality skincare ingredients. All the things that work against ageing skin elsewhere on your face work on the skin around your eyes. We’re talking Retinal, L-Ascorbic Acid, Niacinamide, Hyaluronic acid and Ceramides. So, when applying your skincare, don’t forget the skin around your eyes," the doctor advised.
5. Always apply sunscreen on the skin around your eyes
The most important part of any skincare routine. Protecting your skin from UV rays from the sun prevents it from getting damaged.
Dr Ginni quipped: "Always protect your eyes from the sun. The skin around your eyes can be super sensitive but make sure you get sunscreen to that skin and go for wrap-around sunglasses that will not only prevent wrinkles but will also reduce your risk of cataracts, macular degeneration and even skin cancers that just love to pop up on the eyelids."
For those who are sceptical over the claims, you might want to check out this video where medical aesthetician Cassandra Bankson discussed why purchasing eye creams are not worth it, emphasising that investing in other skincare products — such as moisturisers — that contain ingredients that provide the same benefits is a much better decision.
