Chocolate pudding is one of those desserts that you can never go wrong with. It is rich, chocolatey, and creamy, perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth. And this 4-ingredient chocolate pudding recipe is so easy to make that you will be whipping up this dessert in no time.

This pudding is made with just a few simple ingredients that you probably already have in your pantry: milk, sugar, agar powder, and milk chocolate.

What is agar, you may ask? Agar, also known as agar-agar and kanten, is a jelly-like substance made from red algae. Agar-agar jelly has been used for centuries in Asian cuisines. Its gummy, chewy texture at room temperature makes it a popular gelatin substitute because it contains no animal products. Agar-agar is considered halal and pareve.

Agar powder and flakes can be found in Chinese, Japanese, and Korean grocery stores at health food stores.Agar has minimal health benefits but contains no gluten, carbohydrates, cholesterol, or calories. You can use it in mousse, pudding, custard, ice cream, and delicate dishes like panna cotta and cheesecake.

Ingredients:

500ml Milk
90g Sugar
7g Agar powder (you can use gelatin powder as a substitute)
150g Milk chocolate

Instructions:

1. Pour milk, sugar, and agar powder into a pot, and mix until the sugar and agar-agar have dissolved.

2. Cut milk chocolate into small pieces and add to the pot.

3. Boil the mixture until it thickens.

4. Pour the mixture into a rectangular mold, and allow it to cool for 1 hour.

5. Refrigerate for a few hours before serving.

And voila! You now have a rich and creamy pudding in just minutes!

Using milk chocolate gives the pudding a sweetness, but you can replace it and add a little more sugar to balance things out if you prefer dark chocolate. Also, use a spatula to help loosen the pudding from the mold. The pudding is much better cold, so be sure to keep it in the fridge for a few hours after it has cooled down.

Much as I love chocolate, this one looks decidedly unappetising! Perhaps it's the colour?

I'd love for someone to try the recipe with dark chocolate and see whether that's any good. [And no, I'm not offering to experiment as I burn water!]

I too thought the desert looked a bit insipid, I thought it had been made with caramilk chocolate. Also, who would want a SLICE of pudding? I would rather pour it into individual serving bowls.:)
