Dear PM, from the Australian Jewish Community

Dear Prime Minister Anthony Albanese,

The Jewish New Year begins on Monday night and you are probably about to sign a quaint letter to the Jewish Community offering Rosh Hashana greetings.

Let me save you some trouble.

On October 9 2023, less than 48 hours after the largest slaughter of Jews since the Holocaust and before Israel had fired a shot, there was a group defiling the Sydney Opera House, making threats to Jews in both English and Arabic.

You said and did nothing to help Australian Jews.

Two years later, as synagogues in Australia are burned down you are about to hand a golden prize to the very same culture which glorifies the murder of Jews. While the Jewish contribution to Australia, dating back to the First Fleet has been immeasurable, you are about to reward a group - invented in 1967 - whose only noteworthy contribution to the world is terrorism.

Your government has fast-tracked visas for thousands of people from Gaza who cannot possibly be properly checked. Not only have you invited the fox into the henhouse, you've rolled out the red carpet and given the fox a push.

You have shown, quite clearly, terrorism works. How do you think that will end for Australians, Prime Minister? And for what? A few more votes in Western Sydney?

Oh sure, you've thrown a few dollars of other people's money at the Jewish Community to pay for "security". So Jewish schools and synagogues can erect more walls and doors to protect their children. While you lower the porous walls surrounding our nation and open the door wider to cultures that hate ours.

Was it worth it?

MPs in your Parliament have chanted genocidal slogans. MPs in your Parliament have stood shoulder to shoulder with groups who hate Jews (even if they choose their words carefully for PR). Your colleagues have marched under the flags of terrorist groups and photographs of genocidal dictators.

You said nothing because you needed support from them and a few votes. Unremarkable MPs were given the choice between the safety of our citizens, the future of western civilisation and the culture of our country, OR keeping their Qantas Chairman's Lounge membership. They chose the one with champagne on arrival.

I ask again: Was it worth it?

In Israel, there is a young generation who have faced adversity and are united and deeply proud of their nation. Despite being tiny they have a bright future and will go on to make a giant contribution to the world. In this country there is a young generation who look in despair to their future and even hate this nation.

That is on you.

In Synagogues this week, Jews will pray for a 'Sweet New Year'. Outside the synagogue will be a huge number of police, protecting them. Exhausted from 70 weekends in a row of protests which were little more than hate rallies of the kind the people inside the synagogues know well.

There will be Jews spending yet another Rosh Hashana starving, trapped in a dungeon as hostages, while you betray them by rewarding the very people who put them there.

While you stamp more and more visas for people who hate this culture. Yet you have blocked visas for Jews from abroad, including democratically elected members of parliament. Meanwhile, you have not blocked visas for Islamist hate preachers. It is quite clear why.

While you're flying them in, there are Jewish people now looking at packing their bags and flying out. Anyone who has studied history knows the trajectory of a country when the Jewish people, who have survival baked into their DNA know it's time to go. It isn't good.

You had a choice between a culture that created Westfield and a culture that fills Goulburn Supermax.

Was it worth it, Prime Minister?

WAS IT WORTH IT?

So before you have a staffer write you a carefully worded piece about the Australian Jewish community's 'values' or our contribution, or offering your 'support' - all while being careful not to mention Jerusalem - let me give you a simple piece of advice.

Sit this one out.

One last thing. Ten days after Rosh Hashana is Yom Kippur. The Day of Atonement. Jewish people once again attend synagogue, fasting and praying to seek forgiveness from God for anything they screwed up during the year, making amends to others who they might have wronged and taking steps to make it right.

Then, Prime Minister, is when you might wish to consider writing a letter. And not just to the Australian Jewish community either...
