Deal with potential Scams

Post office scam.

If anything looks too good to true, probably is.

I use Outlook for Email.

Anything unexpected or looks dodgy I open the message then select the Sender and check. Some of the senders email addresses look so obviously fake they stand out. Anything that looks odd, consider it doubtful. Then select the Arrow at the bottom normally used for reply or forwarding but at the bottom there should be Block sender. I then select delete. It doesn’t stop emails from that sender but puts a red symbol near the top on the Righthand side. Any more with this icon get deleted on arrival.

Microsoft and NBN don’t do Cold Calling.

The calls from Security Departments of Visa etc are fake so I I usually just hang up but if I’m not busy i sometimes string them along, usually foreigners, but they start with Robo Calls, then select 1 to cancel the purchase etc usually from EBay or Amazon.

The world is becoming a dangerous place.

DON’T CLICK ON OR OPEN HYPERTEXT LINKS and be vigilant.

I just received an email from Linkt, telling me I owed $5.83 in toll charges. Asking me to click on the link but I knew it was a Scam, as I have money in credit, plus they never ask for money. So watch out people.

I often get this one, and I never use a toll road, so it's easy to see its a scam. Another thing I find is that even when I block callers on my mobile, they still manage to call me again.

I also get these on a regular basis. Quite ironic as I don't have a DL and have never driven a vehicle 🤪

Thanks for the tips. I usually delete any emails where I do not know the sender. I never open the item up as they are most likely a set-up scam.

Hi
I recently had a missed call from a scam regarding a fake Amazon purchase. I returned the call expectantly knowing it would be a scammer and was delighted to find I was right. After stringing him along for a while he hung up on me. I rang back 90 times and pissed them all off and eventually THEY blocked me. I then used my husband's phone, then my daughter's phone. Had a ball.

I like to string them along on the phone too. They usually hang up after a few minutes when they realise what you are doing.
