Customer shares horrifying Domino’s discovery: 'I was mortified'

When you order a pizza, you expect a delicious, hot meal, not a side of shock and disgust.
But for one Domino's customer, a recent pizza order turned into a stomach-churning experience that left her 'absolutely disgusted' and 'mortified'.
Ebony, a resident of Mt Annan in Sydney’s Southwest, had planned a simple Sunday night dinner with family and friends.
She ordered four pizzas from her local Domino's in Narellan, expecting a hassle-free meal.
However, what she discovered in one of her pizzas was far from appetising.
As she bit into a slice, she felt something hard in her mouth.
Initially, she thought it was the ball of her tongue piercing that had come off. But to her horror, she pulled out a false fingernail.
'I was absolutely mortified and disgusted. I was instantly gagging at the idea that was in my mouth,' Ebony recalled.
'I originally thought I had the ball of my tongue piercing come off, and it was just that in my mouth…I was mortified.'
But the horror didn't stop there.
In another pizza from the same order, Ebony claimed to have found a 'huge clump of hair'.
The shocking discoveries prompted her to alert others about her experience on a local community Facebook page.
Frustrated by the lack of response from the fast-food outlet when she tried to call, Ebony decided to drive back to the store to confront the manager.
However, she was allegedly met with indifference.
'The manager didn’t really seem like he cared,' Ebony said.
She also confronted a staff member who was sitting on a bench used to prepare food.
The staff member's dismissive response only added to Ebony's frustration.
'[The staff member] was sitting on the prep bench checking her nails and smugly said “Oh, it’s not mine”, which annoyed me.'
'So I asked whose nail was in my mouth then, and she was like “Uhh, I dunno what colour was it?” so I stated the colour, and as soon as I did, she jumped off the bench and hid.'
The community was equally appalled by Ebony's experience, with many advising her to complain to the New South Wales Food Authority.
'They’ll investigate and likely send out an inspector randomly to do a spot hygiene, safe food handling and storage inspection,' one advised.
'That’s disgusting…Unfortunately, I’ve also had a bad experience there,' another shared.
Some suggested that gloves and hair coverings should be mandatory in food preparation areas to prevent such incidents.
The Health and Hygiene Requirements of Food Handlers by the New South Wales Food Authority currently do not mandate the use of gloves.
'Even when wearing gloves, in many situations, it may be preferable to use utensils such as tongs or spoons,' their website read.
In response to the incident, a Domino's Australia spokesperson said that a sample of the pizza was being tested after a 'foreign object' was found.
The company also reminded all stores of its 'rigorous' food safety protocol.
'At Domino’s, food safety is our top priority, and even one incident like this is one too many,' the spokesperson said.
'The Domino’s Narellan store apologised and refunded the customer’s order as soon as they were made aware of this and collected a sample of the pizza for further testing. Additionally, we have issued an important reminder to all of our stores about our rigorous food safety procedures.'
'We take our responsibility as a food business seriously and are proud to deliver thousands of delicious pizzas every day that our customers love.'
