Couple completely transforms their kitchen by changing this ONE element: "I can't believe the difference"

Sharing on Instagram, one couple from Melbourne has revealed that changing one major element in their kitchen has completely transformed its look.

Now, it appears bigger, brighter and more welcoming than ever before!

According to Chantelle and her husband Marcus, their kitchen was too "dark" for their liking, and it seemed somehow uninviting to visitors. In Chantelle's own words, it just wasn't "her vibe".

So the two of them decided they needed to change the dark green splashback with a new colour, and also add a few complementing features to it.

Since it was too risky to completely remove the old splashback, they hired a tiler to attach the new tiles on top instead.

The couple used two and a half packs of white tiles in the shade Kit Kat Matt, and applied them using white Mapei grout.

To complement the newly-added white tiles and to complete that "coastal" look they were going for, the couple added a small olive tree to the benchtop, a few wooden decor pieces, a fruit bowl and a rattan utensil holder to the kitchen area.

And while the kitchen still features the same benchtop, cupboards, handles, and stovetop, it looks completely different to how it did before.

It's amazing how just simply changing the colour of your splashback can transform a space!

Hundreds of Chantelle's followers on her social media page commented on the impressive room transformation, commending her for doing such a good job transforming her kitchen space.

"Love it! What a difference one little thing can make," one woman wrote in the comments. "So gorgeous!" added another.

However, we also understand that kitchen renovations like this one can be costly, time-consuming, and not to mention, a huge hassle – especially for our members who are renters!

Luckily for us, there's no shortage of ideas on the internet to mine for easy and affordable DIY projects that can spruce up your kitchen for almost no time or effort.

Here are some ideas!

The kitchen shown does look better and brighter but can I comment on my own personal gripe.
Grammar, I know it's everyone's bugbear but it sets my teeth on edge when I read "different to" as it is soo wrong. Things are Different FROM and Similar TO, always and forever. I find the English language is being mangled more and more, both in print and the spoken word, it is a beautiful, descriptive and colourful language that should be preserved.;)

Yes, I have a problem with grammer also. The word "like" is used several times in every sentence, whether it is in the right context or not, it just gets thrown in. I also don't understand why "so" has to start most sentences.

Rota - you have a problem with "GRAMMER" however you have spelt GRAMMAR wrong. This is the correct spelling

I totally agree.

Lindy I totally agree with you. I remember my English teacher so well MANY years ago with her "different from." She gave us a 40 minute period on relating words. Today I start reading a book & determine whether I will finish it or not. Good grammar is such a joy to read isn't it? I venture to praise a former P resident of the United States who was a delight to listen to without notes in his hand. Such a pleasure. Bear in mind none of us are perfect but a good scholar in youthful days who listens to a good teacher will collect word categories like blotting paper is to ink. Far into the future when attempting crosswords & the like for media competitions, satisfactory results happen. Listen and learn. The more I live the harder I feel for student's who come from overseas. I billeted Japanese for years, & on seeing their English paper, be rest assured "I" would have failed miserably. Now kids are using their made-up words as a language of their own to surprise their superiors. What next? I will just say to myself & close with, & I quote, "The quality of mercy is not strained." yet. so, Good English will survive.

Spell check again, I know and wrote grammar as grammar, even this time had to go back and correct the spell check or predictive text not sure which is doing it to me.

English language is constantly changing. Even in this paragraph you say " Bear in mind none of us are perfect" when it should be "none of us is perfect". However the way you stated it is now acceptable to most people. Ditto with the use of 'I' when it should be 'me'. We pedants are not fashionable; we have to learn to accept common usage. To get back to the original topic, I prefer the 'before' look. The revamped kitchen now looks like all other contemporary kitchens, fresh and clean but without character. Again I am showing my age.
