Controversy erupts over Aussie mum's fury at Nissan Navara's parking choice – Whose side are you on?

Parking etiquette is a topic that can ignite fierce debate among drivers, and a recent incident involving a Queensland mother has sparked a fresh wave of discussion. Stephanie Arneill, a parenting influencer and mother-of-two, found herself at the center of a parking controversy after encountering a Nissan Navara ute parked in a way that encroached on her designated parent parking spot at a Toowoomba shopping center.

The incident, which Stephanie captured and shared on TikTok, shows her frustration as she tries to access the boot of her Mitsubishi SUV, only to find the bonnet of the Navara mere centimeters away. 'You're taking the absolute f****ng p**s,' she exclaims in the video, questioning how she's supposed to fit her pram through the tight space. Her anger is palpable as she contemplates the inconsideration of the other driver, leaving a note on the ute expressing her displeasure.

Stephanie's video quickly divided viewers, with some sympathizing with her plight while others criticized her choice to reverse park, suggesting that it contributed to the difficulty she faced. The debate highlights a broader issue with parking in busy shopping centers, especially for parents with young children who rely on the extra space provided by parent-specific spots.

The 'Seniors Discount Club' understands the challenges that come with navigating car parks, particularly for those of us who may move a bit slower or need extra room for mobility aids. We also recognize the importance of courtesy and consideration in shared spaces. Stephanie's experience raises questions about the responsibilities of drivers to be mindful of how their parking choices can impact others.

In Australia, where utes like the Nissan Navara are popular for their versatility and off-road capability, the size of these vehicles can pose challenges in the more confined spaces of urban car parks. While some argue that large vehicles have no place in these areas, others point out that not everyone has the luxury of choosing a smaller car for their shopping trips.

The controversy also touches on the broader issue of car park design and safety. Stephanie herself points out the lack of pedestrian crossings and the general feeling of unsafety in many shopping center car parks. This is a concern shared by many, including seniors who may find such environments particularly daunting.

As members of the 'Seniors Discount Club', we invite you to weigh in on this debate. Have you encountered similar parking issues? Do you think larger vehicles should be restricted to certain areas of the car park, or is it simply a matter of better driver awareness and consideration? And what about the design of car parks themselves – should there be more thought put into making them safer and more accessible for everyone?

I feel that large vehicles should have a designated area to park as if you are in a smaller vehicle and one parks next to you it is dangerous reversing out of your spot as visibility is non existant making it dangerous. Also the carparks are not designed for large vehicles. Yes they do need a designated area to park in.
and wont people scream and shout when there are no big vehicles parked in their designated spots and there is no empty spaces for regular sized vehicles to park.....screaming......

That would be a good idea but people are stupid and the person in a mini will say it's their god given right to park where they want and then complain if a big car is parked in their designated area. We have designated spots for parents with prams, seniors, disabled and everyone is whinging about these. STUPID is all I can say

So very well said!!

All she had to do was move her car so she had enough room, it's not that hard.
Her bad choice of parking, but, you're not thinking straight. What does she do with her child and pram whilst moving forward? Put the child in the car 1st and move the car into a driving lane while she fiddles with the pram? Her own car isn't small and would need to be way out of the bay to clear access to her boot.
Who is she influencing? She needs a working brain.

What an entitled selfish and ignorant woman.
So what… you have a baby.
Big deal!!
You are so special!!
We have all had them and those of whom have not yet…
probably will have one day.

You are so precious along with a gutter mouth, and a wonderful role model for your child and everyone else’s.

It is YOU that has failed with your ignorance to accept the possible and most likely reality here.

One may quite reasonably assume that YOU DELIBERATELY CHOSE to either drive through to position your car here, or you reversed in to the space.

Most likely you drove through as you probably couldn’t reverse out due to your lack of reversing ability.

Your complaint against this other motorist is despicable and selfish.

It was parked legally and WITHIN THE LINES.
It was a big car.
The options were nil.
All big cars take up more room.
It was not purchased nor parked here purposefully to aggravate you.
You behave as a spoiled, inconsiderate and selfish two year old, and perhaps your baby should be pushing you in the pram?
Whether this car was parked this way or reversed in, would not have mattered as either way it takes up the same amount of space.
In any case, prior to you wetting your own nappy here upon reminding yourself that you couldn’t drive a nail into hot butter….
Why did you not just move your own car an inch or two, or better… just turn it around and drive in thereby giving you METERS TO PLAY WITH?

We all know why.

YOU WERE HAVING A BAD DAY…

Just as you do every day since you had this baby…

you just can’t cope hey?
Look out everyone else.. I’m tired!!
WELL BULLY FOR YOU!!

IF YOU CAN’T DRIVE
IF YOU CAN’T TOLERATE
IF YOU ARE BAD TEMPERED
IF YOU ARE INCONSIDERATE
IF YOU ARE UNREASONABLE
IF YOU THINK YOU ARE SPECIAL AND ENTITLED YOU ARE NOT.

HOWEVER IF YOU NOW REALISE THAT YOUR TANTRUM WAS SELFISH, UNREASONABLE AND UNPLEASANT…
YOU ARE CORRECT???

So have a nice day and try fitting in with the world as opposed to fighting the harmless normal occupants of the planet…

either that or GO LIVE WITH THE REST OF THE SELFISH DRAMA QUEEN ALIENS that don’t live in the real world with us…
and whinge all you like!!

PS I sincerely hope my few words of encouragement have been of some benefit to you?
Trust me - it’s been my pleasure.

I agree that she should not have reverse parked. I also think if she had folded the pram she would have been able to put it in her boot. There weren't parent parks around when my tribe were born, but we managed. Actually had to fold prams before boarding buses! Too much self-entitlement these days!

Way to go Honest - you tell her. Well done

Generally cars seem to be bigger as new models come out. Ute's are very popular in Australia too. It seems simple to have some bigger parking spaces. However some people will not take notice of boundary lines. As for pedestrian crossings well I have had people toot at me to walk faster even if green light still on! I was nearly hit by a car while using a pedestrian crossing last week. Some people just wake up in a shitty mood!

Also the carparks are not designed for large vehicles. Yes they do need a designated area to park in.
I use a wheelchair and often have to park at the rear of the car park, in a disabled park that is rarely used due to its position in relation to the stores. The car park slopes rear to front and there are several speed humps enroute. If a large vehicle parks near the speed hump I am not able to go around them, and my chair won’t / can’t get over them. This then requires me to go past aisles attempting to access one that I can use. On several occasions I had had to drive my chair along the entrance / exit point of the car park and wear the wrath of drivers that I might inconvenience. Large vehicles need designated parking areas for safety for themselves and others.

why dont they have angle parking one way in one way out she is just a twat there is some thing wrong with the younger gen its all about them im glad i am at the age on the way out not the way in i dont like the way this country has become and its getting worse

If the car is parked within the lines then it is legally parked. Must admit I always reverse into a spot only because it is much easier to get out. I drive a small car so do not have those problems.
