Our family and close friends refuse to buy this over priced,over rated cheese after their capitulation to a m9ney hungry activist..Plenty of other brands at reasonable prices that taste better.

They can double or even triple the price of Cheer cheese. Doesn't bother me. I stopped buying it when they changed the name from Coon. Aldi cheese is a far better option.

I have however seen a price increase with all cheeses including home brand. These have increased around 20 %.

I buy sliced cheese either Bega or homebrand
I buy grated mozzarella homebrand for lasagne and pizzas and tasty homebrand grated for tacos and burritos

Aside from its well-known deliciousness, another thing we can all agree on is that cheese isn't as cheap as it used to be.

If you’ve noticed, the cost of dairy products has been rising steadily over the past few years – and it doesn't look like it's going to stop any time soon.

So you can imagine how surprised and outraged Coles shoppers were when they recently spotted an extraordinary price increase on a popular brand of cheese.

One shopper recently took to Facebook when they noticed that CHEER Tasty 36-Slice 750g packs were now being sold at Coles for a whopping $17.55!

In comparison, they were sold for only $10.00 in 2021. That means there was a 75.5 per cent increase from the same product's price — almost double. Yikes!

Many people reacted to the post, and they expressed their dismay at the huge leap in the price of the cheese.

‘Between the cost of petrol and interest rates, I can barely afford home-brand cheese!’ one person’s relatable remark read.

‘CHEER is the new Brie or Camembert (cheese). Save it for those special occasions.’

‘I reckon the price of cheese has gone up the most, it’s crazy.’ another pointed out.

Another shared: ‘I understand dairy items have increased, but this is so wrong.’

Others also revealed that the same kind of CHEER Tasty Cheese is also found at Woolies for $3 less, but as one person put it: ‘That’s just as bad.’

CHEER Tasty Cheese has yet to issue a response.

Coles though has taken note of the customers’ dismay and pointed at their other cheese options shoppers may opt to choose from.

A spokesperson said: ‘We are always looking to offer the best value possible to customers where we can.’

‘We have many cheese options at great value prices including Coles Cheese Block 1kg at $9 and Tasty Shredded Cheese Bags 700g at $7.50, both of which are LOCKED until January 2023.’

‘Bega Slices 250g have a special of $1 discount for Flybuys members until the end of November – with this week having an in-store special of $5 with the incremental dollar discount for Flybuys members added on top,’ they added.

‘We also have a great value Coles Brand Cheese Slice 500g option at $8.60.’
