Coles now includes fresh produce in their locked price program – more savings for your weekly shop!

Gone are the days of fluctuating fruit and vegetable prices catching unsuspecting shoppers off guard. Coles has announced that it will be adding select fresh produce items to its locked price program for the first time, starting this Wednesday.

Coles' decision aims to provide additional price certainty for its customers, ensuring they won't be ambushed by unexpected expenses during their weekly shopping.

Mini apples and pears, those lunch staples we know and love, will be among the first fresh items to have their prices locked in for at least six weeks. The bargain doesn't stop there, as 2 kg bags of potatoes will also be part of the initial rollout.

Renowned apple grower Scott Montague, whose business supplies Coles with these delicious fruits, is particularly excited for shoppers to take advantage of the latest deals.

He noted: 'We have a few more weeks of picking left in our winter harvest, and mini apples are sweet, in season and a good way to get vitamin C and antioxidants.'

With seasonality and quality in mind, Coles is also adding winter roast meats, household staples, and popular brand items to their Dropped and Locked list.

Shoppers can look forward to saving 20 per cent on Coles' leg of lamb (reduced from $15 per kg to $12), 14 per cent on Coles' boneless pork loin roast (now $12 per kg, down from $14), La Espanola Olive Oil 500ml varieties ($13 down to $7), and a huge 40 per cent off on Somat Gold dishwashing tablets.

Coles Fresh Executive General Manager Andy Mossop expressed the supermarket's commitment to supporting customers in finding both healthy and affordable products throughout the cooler months.

'We understand that winter can be a challenging time to budget for fresh and healthy food options,' he said. 'By working with our suppliers to lock the prices of fruit and vegetables, we hope to make it easier for customers to eat well and stretch their dollar further.'

the sooner people realize the "discounted" price is the real price (even then it is too high) the better off we will be. Don't shop there.

Coles and woolworths lock prices with their suppliers all the time .
Example milk supplies are at present in shorter supply. Yet the person who puts in most work to maintain milk supply is being screwed because milk processors want to pay less to their suppliers, but you won't see a drop in the price of milk. Price will rise and they'll tell you it was wage increase.

'berries were once considered a bit of a "luxury" item for special occasions ;) . There is still affordable fruit available . Sorry :)
Farmers need to make some money for growing what they grow. The big supermarkets have been squeezing the juice out of farmer for years so you could have cheap but excellent food . Farmer are also feeling the increase cost of living as they also need to buy what they don't grow.
I would still consider strawberries (all berries) a bit of a luxuries even if rather tasteless compared to home/smaller farm grown . Bigger does not seem better even if shoppers have pushed for bigger over the years.
It's not hard to grow strawberries at home and freeze what you don't need now ;) . But I can live well and healthy enough without bloody 'berries !

If by supplies they mean the farmers then they need to earn enough to eat too. Maybe the supermarkets need to cut their own profits to keep prices down and take it from those lower down the chain.
