Farmers need to make some money for growing what they grow. The big supermarkets have been squeezing the juice out of farmer for years so you could have cheap but excellent food . Farmer are also feeling the increase cost of living as they also need to buy what they don't grow.
I would still consider strawberries (all berries) a bit of a luxuries even if rather tasteless compared to home/smaller farm grown . Bigger does not seem better even if shoppers have pushed for bigger over the years.
It's not hard to grow strawberries at home and freeze what you don't need now . But I can live well and healthy enough without bloody 'berries !

If by supplies they mean the farmers then they need to earn enough to eat too. Maybe the supermarkets need to cut their own profits to keep prices down and take it from those lower down the chain.
