Coles launches massive Christmas seafood sale with unbeatable prices

Christmas is almost here and we here at the SDC know that one of the things that makes this day so special is getting together with friends and family to celebrate with a delicious meal.

One of our favourites? A seafood feast! Popular in Australian homes during Christmas, there’s no denying it’s an expensive meal if you aren’t careful – but fear not!

We have some great news for anyone who still want to enjoy a seafood feast without breaking the bank.

Coles has released its long-anticipated seafood sale, perfect for the lead-up to Christmas. And the good news is that you can already get your hands on the bargains from today!

The retailer has slashed the price of its MSC WA Cooked Rock Lobsters from $27 each to $22 each. It should be noted, however, that the supermarket has introduced temporary purchase limits on WA Cooked Rock Lobsters at four per person to ensure that more seafood lovers can get their hands on the bargains.

Additionally, Coles is offering MSC WA Raw Rock Lobster tails for $21 per tail, meaning you get to enjoy premium lobster goodness for less!

Andy Mossop, Coles Executive General Manager for Fresh, said that the retailer is working hard to provide customers with all the premium Christmas buys they need — and the savings that come with it — especially in terms of food, which is often considered to be a typical centrepiece for celebrations.

'At Coles, customers buy over 70 per cent more seafood in December compared to any other month so we have a great responsibility in providing the best value and supply across our entire seafood range so more of our customers can celebrate Christmas the Australian way – with an abundance of fresh seafood,' he said.

'More than 70 per cent of our customers have told us "price" is the most important factor when shopping for Christmas products, so we’ve worked hard with our fantastic partners to provide the best quality, responsibly sourced seafood while keeping prices low as possible.'

What pensioner can afford to by meat? Porterhouse steaks over $40 a kilo; mince about what, $18 per kilo or more. Yes, I suppose pensioners can still afford to hunt for specials among the cat biscuits or something. Time to start growing our own vegies again and organising informal vegie swap markets between ourselves; they would make useful social occasions as well and avoiding risk of catching Covid-19in our shopping centres.

I had them last year and they were lovely, not dry and the price seams reasonable, if you don't want to buy them then don't its as easy as that.

How can crayfish be so expensive? Previously 90% of the catch went to China, that has now stopped. There should be a total glut and a very big drop in price. Something doesn't add up.
They will charge what the market can pay. I have no doubt tons of seafood is dumped due to the greed of supermarkets. As with other fresh food and veg.

I understand people think rock lobster is expensive, but the rock lobster season is not a year round job, meaning there is only so many months in the year to make a living, overheads are expensive, then they need to be processed, delivered, etc. More involved than most people understand, obviously it is a luxury not somethiñg you would buy every day.
I save up my flybuys so I can afford them as a special treat at Xmas.

They are the same price at Woolies too. This is important when you don't ever shop at Coles!

You are so correct, the problem is most people fall for it however if you have a champagne taste on a beer budget then it's good enough. And hell yes I'm one of those that can't afford the real thing even the fake so it will not be on my Chrissy table this year...again!!!

What I can't figure is why the tails are selling for more here in WA when they come from here (caught and processed so less travel) so why are they selling for $2 more - RIPOFF.
