I use PayPal at least once a week and it is one of the safest and most secure payment systems available. Stop trying to scare people.

I share your problem, recently I ordered some Compression Socks online. When they arrived they weren't able to get open enough to be used they were so impossibly tight. I was disgusted ,
, a lot of emails later they have agreed to give me back 60% of my money. And oh gee !!!!!! I could even get to keep 3 pair
of useless socks. Go figure !!!!
WATCH THIS SPACE NO REFUND YET...........

I have had several emails from PayPal stating that my order is ready to be sent and I should send the money (the amount actually stated) to them. Then the name which is my name comes next with my email address both correct but an address in another town. I just wipe these off my in box and never hear anything from them until the next time they make the same mistake.

I regularly get emails purporting to be from PayPal, with attached invoices. I never open them as I knw they are scams. Most of them are from gmail accounts. I have had PayPal contact me about a couple of invoiuces they believe are scams. I don't open those but log in to my account and check - sometimes there is a message on there asking if they are things I have ordfered. If they are scam they delete them straight away andf look inbto them. That way I don't get charged for stuff I don' purchase.

Yes i use PayPal to pay for anything I buy online. The same day, I get an email from them confirming the payment…….who I paid, how much I paid, the date etc, and I’ve always been treated fairly if I have any issues…..to date, I haven’t had anything strange happen….

What or who is an authenticator?
It's an automatic 6-number code generator that is unique to Paypal, and authenticates that you are the person doing transaction.
The code expires every 25 to 30 seconds, and automatically generates another code, in case you missed entering the previous one.

Authenticators can be downloaded from Play Services (for Android or Windows devices) or iTunes/Apple store for Mac/iPhone etc)
Some banking services use Authenticators (they are free) as do some Crypto Brokers and no doubt many other services requiring security and ID authentication.

These add one more layer of security to your accounts, to protect your cash.
Ask your bank about one (free) for your online dealings with them.
PayPal also uses Authenticator.

I would have put a "laugh" emoji but as someone who has dyslexia my heart went out to this person. I always have a "dick-chin-eerie" close by - but there are times when I laugh at what I have written and have a good giggle at my own expense.
I never found out till I was in my early thirties, it's the reason I started doing crossword puzzles. What's a three letter word for the oldest known drinking vessel?

I dislike the automatic payments. Had lots in my cart and only wanted to purchase two items, before I knew it they were all processed. Also subscription came out via PayPal without authorisation. Glad they had cancel subscription at the bottom.
If you sign up for something that has a renewable payment through Papal you need to go into Paypal and delete the automatic payment otherwise it will stay there and keep paying the amount. They are usually streaming video (Netflix etc,) and even anti-virus software has subscriptions.
Paypal does not take unauthorised payments. you MUST check in Paypal for the automatic authorised payments. Know what you are purchasing and does it have monthly/annual payments.
