Can this pub-goer redeem himself after committing a crime on a night out? Read his surprising apology letter to find out
- Replies 6
We all love a good night out at our favourite pub or brewery, but sometimes things can get a little out of hand after a few too many drinks.
You know how it is – one minute, you're enjoying yourself, and the next thing you know, you're doing something you'll probably regret later on. It happens to the best of us!
Fortunately, most of the time, these episodes are relatively harmless and won't do any lasting damage. However, there are some occasions when our actions might have serious consequences – such as if we end up stealing something from the venue we're visiting (we’re not speaking from experience on this one, we promise).
This was the case for one Aussie who stole a pint glass from Robe Town Brewery in South Australia. Later, feeling guilty, he sent an anonymous letter to the business along with $10 in an attempt to make amends.
But did the pub owner forgive him? Read on to find out…

The letter read: 'I loved your brewery so much I "souvenired" a glass and have been feeling guilty about it ever since. Hope this covers it. Sorry.' The thief even included a small, sad face drawing for extra effect!
On Facebook, Robe Town Brewery shared a photo of the confession letter they received in the mail, captioning it: 'This week's "Most Honest Customer" award goes to the sender of this anonymous letter we received in the mail…'
'We appreciate the guilty reimbursement!' they went on to say, finally saying: 'You are forgiven.'
Thankfully, this story had a happy ending – at least for the pub-goer in question. The team at Robe Town Brewery confirmed that they had forgiven the thief and even shared a photo of their branded pint glasses which are available for purchase as a keepsake. Phew!
So, the next time you're enjoying a night out, and you do something you might regret later, just remember that honesty is the best policy. You never know; you might even end up being crowned the 'Most Honest Customer'.
But of course, we would never encourage drinking way beyond your limits (or stealing, for that matter). Moderation is the key, folks!
