Burger from the local milk bar​

Before the fast food chains took over, we had our own ‘with the lot’ with beef patty, fried egg, bacon, tomato, onion, and more, all piled high and messy. We'd drive for miles to enjoy one, washing it down with a milkshake from a tall anodised cup. Do you remember those days? What were your favourite toppings? Share your memories here.

Im sorry but you cant have a Burger without Beetroot

My all time favourite was from a taxi station in Spencer St Melbourne.
Hamburger with the lot, no egg, double onions and not being charged for the extra onions.

We have several places here in Lithgow where you can buy a TRUE Burger or a FAKE Burger. We cater for everyone's tastes. Me I'm a TB

A mate and I frequently worked on our car until all hours of the morning at his home in a southern Sydney suburb. When we finished up and scrubbed up a bit we would drive to Wollongong for a hamburger as there was 24 hour burger place down there and they were good burgers.

With pineapple as well. Try and find a burger or fish and chip shop now and you would be lucky. Have to make do with McRubbish or similar.

When we came to Australia from England I was 12 and we were amazed by the huge yummy hamburgers you could get and the best hot chips ever. I really loved the ones with pineapple and so began our love of Golden Circle beetroot and pineapple. The best thing about the burgers was their great flavour, sadly missing in today's burger chain offerings.

We have at least a dozen or more shops near us that do a good old fashioned burger and the best fish and chips.
I just go to Menu Log to see what they offer in my area, sometimes we get them delivered and sometimes we pick them up.

Nowadays, change from $8.00 for a McCrapolds Big Slop is unheard of!
