Brooches and bracelets

I was scrolling on Facebook the other day when I stumbled upon this post about brooches and bracelets. The little brooch in the picture was given to so many of us when we were babies and we would only get to wear them on special occasions. I had a bracelet with my name on it and I used to love wearing it on Christmas Day or at other special occasions. I was reading the comments on the post and some people were saying that their brooch / bracelet had a little blue bird on it! One woman even shared that she wore her brooch on her wedding day (something blue AND something old). I was so blown away by how many people have kept theirs as a keepsake! Do you still have yours or your children’s somewhere?

Mum & Dad's house was broken into a few weeks after my Christening and one of the items solent was my baby broach. Grandma had purchased it and she bought another one for me. Mum always said the new one wasn't as pretty as the original. Yes, I still have mine and I'm well into my 70s and I still love it – especially as it is a different shape to most of that era.

I also have my husband's aunt's childhood bracelet engraved with her name. She was born about 1932. She and I had a special bond and she personally gave it to me several before her death. It is also much loved.
