Bec Hardgrave, from Brisbane, shared a TikTok video showing exactly how she made the sweet chilli chicken burger and the Grill’d famous chips using basic ingredients from Woolworths.
“You guys asked, so here it is. Here is my fakeaway sweet chilli chicken burger for 430 calories - and with the chips, it’s 611 calories. Did you know that the same meal from Grill’d is over 1,000 calories?” the 25-year-old health coach said in her video.
For the burger, the ingredients she used were:
- 100g chicken breast
- 30g beetroot slices
- 15g organic tomato chutney
- Carrot
- Lettuce
- Onion
- Hamburger roll from Woolies
- 15g full egg mayo
- 5ml Light Ayam Sweet Chilli
- $2 organic frozen straight cut chips
- Rosemary
- Oregano
- Thyme
- Flaky salt
To assemble, she added a spoonful of organic tomato chutney from Woolworths to the bottom bun, followed by fresh lettuce leaves, tomato slices, red onion, 30g beetroot slices, grated carrots and the cooked grilled chicken breast.
She spread a spoonful of the sweet chilli mayo to the top bun and then placed it over the chicken.
Her burger contains just 430 calories, while the Grill’d version has 509 calories.
As for the famous chips, she used only five ingredients.
First, she baked 150g of frozen straight cut chips from Woolworths at 180 degrees celsius for 15 minutes.
She created the herb blend in a bowl by mixing a pinch of rosemary, oregano, thyme, and flaky salt.
Once the fries were golden and crispy, she sprinkled the herb mixture over the top.
Her version only has 146 calories, while the chain’s thick-cut potato chips contain 580 calories (2430kJ).
Bec praised the food hack, saying: “It tastes exactly like the famous Grill’d chips. These are absolutely unreal and so quick and super easy to make. Yum!”
The video was shared on her TikTok and Instagram page with over 70,000 followers.
“You’ve literally made a lower calorie version of my Grill’d order that I always get,” wrote one user.
Another added: “Oh my god, my favourite Grill’d burger made at home.”
