Beloved snack brand unveils ‘unexpected’ new flavour - a hit or a miss?

There's nothing quite like indulging in your favourite snacks to brighten up a dreary day. Whether it's munching on a bag of chips or savouring a piece (or two) of chocolate, snacking is the ultimate pick-me-up that can immediately lift your mood and bring a smile to your face.

We bet you can think of plenty of snacks you like to munch on as you pass time, but let's admit it - very few can compare to the good old Aussie classic: Twisties.

For over 70 years now, this yummy treat has been delighting Aussies' taste buds with its classic cheesy flavour. Over the years the snack has enjoyed many different flavours, including chicken, pizza, and even beef tacos.

But now, the best-selling chips made by PepsiCo have a new flavour that's raising some eyebrows. And although it might seem strange at first, many snack lovers were inclined to believe that this new flavour could be a hit.

After asking Australians to choose from three flavours, the company announced that the overwhelming favourite was 'Twisties Twisted Raspberry'.

Yes, you read that right, raspberry-flavoured Twisties!

The new flavour even won by an impressive vote margin (over 'Cheesy Bacon' and 'Cheeseburger'), and PepsiCo made sure to tell everyone that the new flavour will have taste buds 'tingling' with its juicy, sweet, and sherbet flavour.

The announcement has sent shockwaves through the social media sphere and reactions are pouring in! While some are scratching their heads in confusion, others are eagerly counting down the minutes until they can try the latest flavour.

'Not too sure about these,' wrote one wary Facebook user, while another chimed in with a less than enthused, 'Sounds gross.'

Others were firm in their cheese Twisties loyalty, shouting 'Nah, this is too much! Don't mess with our Twisties.'

On the other hand, many were also absolutely thrilled with the announcement, cheering and saying, 'Bring on Twisted Raspberry!'

'Twisted Raspberry is new and unique. Such a great idea,' raved another, with a third joining and adding: 'I would love to give the Twisted Raspberry one a try. Why not? Something a bit different! Should be interesting.'

'I just can't imagine raspberry-flavoured Twisties, but I would give it a try,' wrote another daring snack lover.

The excitement is palpable and the anticipation is building as everyone awaits their chance to taste this new twist on a classic snack!

The new Twisties flavour will hit shelves in June and no - this isn't an April Fool's prank. But don't wait too long to satisfy your cravings, because these new Twisties will only be available for a limited time.

So, if you're ready to tantalise your taste buds and leave your brain in a delicious state of confusion, then you better act fast once they’re released! This is your chance to be a part of snack history and try something new and exciting.

But even if you're not sure about Twisties' newest flavour, it's still worth appreciating this treat for its 70-year history as one of the country's favourite snacks.

The iconic chips are made with a mix of milled corn, rice, wheat and water that are fed into a rotary head machine. This machine cooks and shapes the mix, giving it its unique squiggly shape before flavourings and vegetable oil are added.

Oh the humanity.
Why do this to something so embedded in OZ snack land.
I am a cheese Twistie devotee and have not even diverted to chicken style. I eat them rarely, but when I do it will be the original version and nothing else.
Sweet Twisties go beyond the pale. Naaaah.
