This is basically a one pot Pie.
It's so easy, it's delicious and perfect for a winter night's dinner.

Ingredients
- 800 g beef chuck steak, cubed
- 3 short-cut bacon rashers chopped
- 1 onion chopped
- 2 carrots chopped
- 2 cup button mushrooms sliced
- 1 bay leaf
- 1/3 cup red beef liquid stock or red wine
- 420 g can condensed tomato soup
- 1 sheet puff pastry defrosted
Method
- Preheat the oven to 160C or 140°C fan-forced
- Grease a large pan ( which can cook on stove and oven) and brown the beef in batches. Set beef aside.
- Add bacon and onion to pan and fry until onion becomes soft
- Add carrots and mushrooms and fry for about 2 minutes.
- Return beef to pan with bay leaf, red wine / beef stock and can if tomato soup.
- Bring to a simmer, cover with lid and place in the oven for 1 ½ hours.
- Increase oven to 180°C or 160°C fan-forced
- Place the pastry over the surface of the meat and tuck around the meat.
- Glaze the top with milk.
- Bake for approximately 30 minutes.
Serve with beans and mashed potato.
NOTES
Not difficult to make but takes a while to make but worth it
I use beef stock in place of the red wine if no red wine available.
I Use chuck steak or gravy beef.
If I'm eating it then I leave out the mushrooms.
I have also cooked this in seperate ramekins and placed the pastry on top
