Baked beans are a staple in the diets of many Australians. They are versatile, nutritious and delicious. What's not to love?

There are many ways to enjoy baked beans. They can be eaten on their own as a snack, added to salads or used as a condiment. They are also a great source of protein and fibre.

But, who would have thought that the classic combination of baked beans and Vegemite would make for such a delicious flavour combo?

SPC, an Australian food processing company, has done the unthinkable and released Baked Beans in Tomato and Vegemite, and we’re here for it!

While some people may be apprehensive about this new flavour, we think it has the potential to be a real winner.

The umami flavour of the Vegemite pairs perfectly with the sweetness of the tomato, resulting in a delicious and moreish dish.

Honestly, we're not the only ones who are hyped up for this new flavour.

A number of Aussies expressed their excitement over the new item.

One person wrote: "My dad used to always put Vegemite in when he made gravy. I’m keen!"

"I often smear some Promite on my toast before adding my baked beans," another added.

A third chimed in: "Well, I put Vegemite in stews so I could see how putting it in baked beans could possibly work. Would give it a try at least once."

"I would be up for it. Aldi had vegemite sausages, thought they would be gross, I loved them. So, I would actually try these, could be surprised," another said.

The new item is available for purchase at Woolworths.

I use Vegemite for flavouring in gravies or sauces like Bolognese sauce, as I have an allergy to the allium family of vegetables. This includes onion, garlic, leeks, chives etc.
Definitely will try, provided there's none of the allium family included.
